There is no #57 for Clemson this year so I will go back and choose a player I haven’t covered yet. So todays player spotlight is #97 Patrick Swygert. He is a redshirt sophomore defensive tackle for the 2025 Clemson Tigers. Patrick “Joined Clemson as a walk-on in 2023 … enters 2025 having played two defensive snaps in two game appearances”. He “Elected to walk on at Clemson over offers from The Citadel, Anderson and Newberry”. He is majoring in human capital education and development. He was “Two-time all-state honoree at tight end while playing both sides of the ball at Batesburg-Leesville (S.C.) High School.”. Patrick was on the Clemson scout team in 2023. Then in 2024 he “Played two defensive snaps in two game appearances … made Clemson debut vs. Appalachian State … saw action vs. The Citadel.”. So our first spotlight will be on #56 Champ Thompson. He is a redshirt freshman defensive tackle for the 2025 Clemson Tigers.

Champ was “Ranked as the No. 288 overall player in the nation by PrepStar … also ranked as 53rd-best defensive lineman in the country and 55th-best player in Georgia by PrepStar … listed as ESPN’s 19th-best defensive lineman in the class and the outlet’s 39th-best player in Georgia … rated 29th at his position and 46th in Georgia by Rivals … helped Gainesville to a 12-1 record in 2023 … credited with 36 tackles, 7.5 sacks and four pass breakups … played for Josh Niblett at Gainesville … played previously at Meadowcreek, where he was a second-team all-county and first-team all-region selection for its playoff team in 2022 … added 38 tackles, seven tackles for loss and three sacks as a junior … caught two passes for 11 yards offensively that year including an eight-yard touchdown reception vs. Berkmar … three-time team captain … also played basketball at Meadowcreek.”.

Watson was “One of five finalists for Mr. Football in South Carolina in 2023 … helped Daniel to a 51-1 record in his four years as the Lions’ starting left tackle … helped Daniel to three state titles in four years and four straight Region 1-AAA championships … SCFCA All-State honoree in 2022 and 2023 … named to the South Carolina Shrine Bowl team in 2023 … named Region 1-AAA Lineman of the Year and Pickens County Courier All-County Player of the Year … earned 2022 Palmetto Combine Upper State Best Junior Offensive Lineman and collected Palmetto Combine Series West Top Offensive Lineman honors for 2023 … named MVP of the 2023 Under Armour/ESPN Camp … 2023 District Strength Champion among heavyweights … All-Atlantic Region selection by PrepStar, which ranked Watson as 15th-best player in South Carolina … listed as ESPN’s 13th-best prospect in South Carolina … ranked No. 24 in South Carolina by 247Sports … played for Jeff Fruster at Daniel … was also a three-year letterman in baseball at Daniel.”. He signed with Clemson in 2024 but unfortunately he suffered a knee injury before the 2024 season that sidelined him for the whole season. He should be healthy now though. So here’s hoping he gets some playing time in 2025 and starts developing into a great player.

Today will be another double feature.

Our first player is #55 Makhi Williams Lee. He is a true freshmen defensive tackle for the 2025 Clemson Tigers.

Makhi was a “Disruptive interior defender who was one of Georgia’s most productive defensive tackles”.

He was “Ranked by ESPN as a four-star prospect and the nation’s 28th-best defensive tackle and the 50th-best overall player in Georgia … one of the most productive defensive tackles in Georgia who finished his career with 230 tackles, 61 tackles for loss and 26 sacks in 38 career games … had at least one tackle for loss in 18 of his final 20 games … also added 15 quarterback hurries, three forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries … named 2024 DeKalb County Defensive Player of the Year”.

He had offers from Texas Tech, Oklahoma, NC State and East Carolina but he enrolled at Clemson in the summer of 2025 as a pre-business major.

Our second player is #55 Harris Sewell. He is a junior offensive lineman for the 2025 Clemson Tigers.
