He slows down on contact, doesn't bust thru tackles. He runs out of bounds to avoid being hit.
It seems like he is saving himself for the pros.
I'd love to see the younger, eagerer backs get more reps.

I think the inexperienced OL due to injuries are not giving him the blocking he needs CK is not getting time to scan. He got sacked a lot today

Yesterday Hershel Walker wouldn’t have run for 50 yards the way Pitt loaded the box and and the way our patchwork OLine played
Yesterday was an indictment of offensive play calling and coaching. We needed quick hitting slants and perimeter screens. Continually having 4 guys run 30 yard posts and verts with hampered protection was dumb. Dabo mentioned that Riley had a good many plays that he’d like back. I think that was the understatement of the evening.

I remember him favoring his left hip vs V Tech... even the commentators commented he was running left all the time to protect the left hip.
He is a beast, but I have seen him playing hurt for a few games now.
I remember Dabo being asked after the V Tech game about why he wasn't rotating someone else in there and he responded by saying Mafah has been on the sidelines enough in his career and its time for them to ride him.
Mo Mafah....
He surpassed 1,000 yards yesterday, but after that 4th down, I think he came back to 9,998. Give him one carry vs the Citadel and then rest him so he can jam it down the Coots throats on 30 NOV.

Ok, I’ll weigh in too. He’s physical and fast but not quick. He lacks suddenness. He needs to get a head of steam going. Teams know this and are using run blitzing to hit him before he can get going. A quicker back may have been helpful, but Mafah is also needed for pass protection.
