For instance? Looks fast on tape but also possible the other guys are slow. Just curious where we think he fits in.

My guess would be a slower than CJ, as fast or slightly faster than ETN and faster than Feaster.

Feaster has awesome top end speed

His acceleration isn’t great. It takes him several good strides to get up to speed.
I think Bowman has the quickness that we are used to seeing with ETN. He seems pretty explosive and powerful from what I’ve watched.

Bowman ran a 4.47 at the opening and had run a 10.8 100 meter dash. He did that as a jr. He may be faster at Clemson since he will be older and stronger.

To finish off the 100m times, CJ fastest was 10.2, blazing fast. And he could translate that to the football field better than most.

Yeah, he ran under 10.8 with regularity; don't think the other 3 ever ran a sub 10.5 100. Not sure why it isn't more apparent on the field but a hs teammate of his once told me before his freshman year that TV preferred the WR position over RB position because he didn't like getting hit

We all love to look at 40y or 100m times but the truth is that doesn’t mean that much on the field. Sammy Watkins played incredibly fast compared to his 40 (No his 40 wasn’t “slow” but it was top of the class either). Feaster was the opposite. Couldn’t catch him on the track but “just” above average on the field.

If Dabo is comparing him to Spiller instead of ETN, you can

bet he is pretty darn fast. If he is anything like as shifty as CJ, we are in for a treat!
ps, The moves he put on those GT defenders in that game were right in front of us on our side of the field. I watch the video on Youtube from time to time, just to remind myself it really did happen.

Mickey Plyler referenced some of the staff telling him that same thing (CJ comparison) and it has me excited. We're blessed with some great players but none are as electric as what #28 used to do.

Right!! That is still one of the more insane things I have ever seen live in front of my eyes. I still don’t understand how he pulled that off.

Yep - was there too .... Incredible !! Ranks right up there with Hunter’s fantastic TD run leaving chickens sprawled on the field everywhere in his wake ..... - ">">">

He played 7A Florida football. I would say he is blazing fast.

If it was just highlights against one or two teams I might be more hesitant, but he flat out ran past everyone. Spiller? Maybe. Hard to match his speed. ETN? Good chance. Feaster? Faster. Feaster was the poster child of the difference in track speed vs football speed.

I thought the CJ comparison was partly about his speed and explosiveness but being a threat in the passing game too.

On 24/7, he’s listed as running a 4.47 from what I read. Etienne ran a 4.43 out of high school.
Because he’s grown since that profile was created, (did Dabo say Bowman weighs 216lbs at the signing day ceremony today?), those numbers might be off. I’d wager Etienne is actually faster than a 4.43 now even though he’s gained 10lbs of muscle since coming to Clemson though so who really knows?

between a 4.43 guy or a 4.47 guy on a football field. Both are really fast and could go the distance with a crack of daylight. Anything below 4.5 is fast and requires a fair amount of explosiveness.

I think he is definitely faster than ETN. Spring game might clearly show that.
We may never have another back with Spiller's top end. But if it's anyone, it's Bowman.
We don't know if he's a quick study or not. We DO know Tony Elliot's habit of rewarding veteran RBs over freshman makes it an uphill climb.
That all said, by the end of next season, don't be surprised if we have a 1A and 1B RB situation with LJD and Bowman.
The key for Bowman as a freshman is learning the offense and pass blocking.
I can't wait to see him on the field.

I’d say he’s more like Dalvin Cook.

CJ was like Reggie Bush. This kid seems like he’s a little more physical than CJ but CJ was more quick twitch and faster
