Must be talking about the new ineligible man down field rule. Olinemen use to get a 3 yard cushion and now it's only 1 yard. Will make running screens and blocking for them more difficult.

I have no faith in the competency of ACC football officials ESPECIALLY with the implementation of a new rule.....and I don't have much faith in the "review officials" either, but at least its something

I read the article from USA Today and it raised 2 questions in my reading and analyzing it's content:
1) As a former college player of this magnificent game, why do they think they need to "tinker" with the rules of the game
each & every year? Do their changes REALLY make the game better?
2) Who the hell is Calhoun that is quoted in the article several times? The writer never identifies who he is.
It truly amazes me how these certain few are "all-knowing" in these situations and want to mess with the game of football. It is already the best "team" sport that exists. Often when these rules changes are made, it puts way too much power in the hands of the officials to determine the outcome of games based on their "judgement" calls. Therefore, the players have less power to determine the outcome by their play and that is not why the masses watch the games today.
Most fans don't watch football at any level to see the officials!! It's all about the players & their teams!!!

1. Troy Calhoun is the HC at the Air Force Academy.
2. The rules have to be tweaked because coaches are constantly exploiting the rules to get around the intent of the rules.

Chuck Oliver (Auburn guy) was saying this is bad for spread offenses like Auburn and Clemson. This rule is Nick Saban's dream.

He said it takes away the Olinemen's ability to fire off the ball regardless of pass or run play. It forces the offense to reveal run/pass earlier, thereby giving the defense an advantage.

Dabo has ACC officials work all of our scrimmages throughout the spring and the fall....I have noticed that because of that....it is easier for a team to get used to new rules and for teaching moments to happen during these practices and scrimmages....when the officials are more "used" to a style of play...they are not having to second guess during live fire.....

Why do the officials constantly still get the calls wrong against us???
Ex: all the false targeting calls we've been railed with, reviewed plays being obviously & falsely NOT overturned.
OH, WE'LL GET SCREWED HARDCORE FROM THIS SOMEHOW!!!
I'd be willing to garantee that...
More rules, these idiots don't even understand or know how to correctly & effectively enforce...YEEEESH! :-/

teams like Bama. I've always wondered why we didn't run more screens to guys behind the line with the OLs firing off early. It's been a major part of Bama's O the last couple of years whereas most of our downfield blocking is done by WRs and TEs. With our receiving corp, I think it's to our advantage. Clemson passes to open up the run game; Bama runs to open up the pass game.
