I love Dabo for the passion he brought to the program, the genuine caring for his players as not only players, but men, and his ability to recruit great players. But it is my opinion that he has lost sight of how to develop players by instead trying to develop coaches. You can’t do both at the same time and this is obvious on the offensive side of our team.
When we got drubbed by WV in OB he went out and hired an experienced defensive coordinator from Oklahoma. When he lost his offensive coordinator and receiver coach, whose dad was an ex- head coach and his tight end coach he replaces them with Spiller and Grisham who had no coaching experience. Then you have Robbie Caldwell whose offensive lines have never been great even though we have recruited well lately. And we lose Chad Morris and replace him with Steve Streeter.
The name of the game is having experienced and knowledgeable coaches to develop the top recruiting classes you get, not to develop unproven, inexperienced players.
It is also the job of the coaches to develop the players you recruit hard and let Walk-one be scout team players unless they really standout like Hunter Renfrow.
Get great developed, experienced and established coaches to develop the great recruiting classes you have gotten.
This is a tough time for Tiger Nation, but tough times usually reveal character and I know Dabo has that. Go Tigers!
Bingo! It all starts with Dabo and he needs to make some tough decisions about his staff. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over while expecting different results…we cannot do this again for another week in a row.
