in our CFP run.
Screw the ACC. I'm a Clemson fan, not an ACC fan.
FSU is not one of the best four teams without Jordan Travis and it's entirely arguable that Clemson would not have been one of the best four teams without Watson or Lawrence.
Is it unfair to the rest of the FSU team? Absolutely....but resume is not the criteria. It's the best four teams.
Just be glad they didn't find a way to sneak Georgia in over Texas.

If the Dawgs beat the noles the committee will be viewed as making the correct decision. Otherwise, they will be viewed as biased.

That bowl between FSU vs Georgia shouldn't hold that kind of weight as an indicator of anything; I wouldn't expect the key players of either team to care one way or another about the bowl game for different reasons–

you think it should be someone’s opinion of who the best teams are? And not results on the field?
You don’t have to be an “ACC fan” to think that’s ridiculous.

It should not matter who you are a fan of! Everything that the committee has said matters did not matter. The Games on the field mean nothing ! Let’s just put in who we thinks better. I don’t know if FSU would have one or not but I know this FSU is 13-0

Sounds like you should be on the CFP committee as you know who the best teams are. Next season let me know who the best teams are so I can make some big $$$ betting.
Did the CFP also use their crystal ball to predict players going to the transfer portal or deciding not to play in the bowl game?

Lol 🤣 so the resume of a teams on field accomplishments (the only tangible REAL way of measuring a team) is not the criteria , but hypotheticals on what might possibly happen in the future is considered accurate criteria?
That must take some serious mental gymnastics to reconcile in your brain

yep, I have always tuned out any talking head that starts the 'eye test' talk..... The definition of subjective opinion. Talk head to head and common opponents, etc. Once you utter eye test.... I'm done with the convo.

The ABSOLUTELY ULTIMATE stat which matters is WINS versus LOSSES.
THE monopolized CFP COMMITTEE threw this out the window & revealed, for everyone to see, WINNING no longer matters; unless you(a team) is part of the preferred club or agenda.

Agree to disagree. They did not get it right. I am no FSU fan but take off those orange glasses because this was absolutely a step TOO FAR for esecpn. I will not watch that piece of crsp station ever again no matter what.

So if a team starts out 3 and 3, makes a QB change to a blue chip freshman

and goes 6-0 down the stretch with some wins over a few big time opponents should they get in under that scenario? 9-3, BUT, appear to be one of the hottest teams in the country the second half of the season, once they made the quarterback switch.

And therein lies the rub. There is no way the decision they made yesterday can reconcile the situation you just cited in a consistent way

In a vacuum… yes, but I believe FSU’s strength of schedule had just as much, if not more, to do with it. SOS of mid-50’s hurt them.
Just like UGA’s being the next weakest of the group … and because UGA had a loss, the committee ranked them below FSU.

So explain Michigan being #1 with a SOS of #51 versus FSU with a SOS at #55.

That is another whole story. I believe they should have been out because their coach was suspended twice this season for accusations of cheating. They still had a better win .. though I would never defend them.

I’m genuinely curious if FSU fans would have been excited to go to the rose bowl knowing they’re going to get crushed?
Seems like this gave them the perfect out to feign outrage and ignore the impending loss.

Happens a lot. Better to make it and take your chances when you have the season to get there.
Also, FSU would be very unlikely to suffer a major beatdown from any of the CFP teams. They have a great defense if nothing else. UGA would be far more capable of a rout. Though we won’t likely see many key players for either team in the Orange Bowl.

Odds on favorite to win it all if they were in. So I don’t buy the best 4 excuse at all. Just a crutch to enable the committee to do whatever the powers that be desire.
Interestingly Georgia was left out based on on the field results, despite projections they could win it all. While FSU was left out based on projections they could not win it all, despite on the field results.

Championship game will be Bama v Texas 2.0. I would give the edge to Texas, but beating Alabama twice in the same season has proven nigh impossible historically.
