Will we ever see him in Clemson Orange? Don't recruits at this level 99% of the time turn pro? You can have an incredible recruiting class on paper, but... This is why I think that college-level baseball recruiting is the hardest of the men's major sports.

College baseball recruiting seems like such a crap shoot.

Every time you see a really elite prospect commit to the Tigers, the first thing you think is that more than likely he’s not ever going to actually play for Clemson.
Maybe I’m just too cynical.

At this point with the portal changes, I’m not sure why a head coach spends time recruiting elite HS players. Unless they are adamant about attending school and getting a degree, it seems like the better option is to build depth with second and third year transfer players that have shown D1 capability. HS signee’s should be the lesser rated players that have some raw talent that can be developed during freshman and sophomore seasons. If the Tigers had well funded NIL then maybe a few forgo the draft, but I don’t think there’s enough NIL yet to make the draft decision more difficult.

I often wonder the exact same thing. It's also nothing new. JL was notorious for getting commitments from elite guys that would never see campus. I believe Jordan Schaffer, Jeff Francour, and Zack Greinke were all in the same class. I didn't understand it then and I don't understand it now. We have two commitments right now that are projected to be first round picks in this year's draft. Dillon Head and Sammy Stafura. Unless the coaching staff knows something that we don't, then why take an elite commitment? In football elite recruits lead to more recruits. Not the same in baseball so I can't see the reasoning behind it.

Definitely. As said above, he'll make millions. Nowadays they convince kids that want an education to get an online degree. Just got to get lucky or be good at the tweeners.

Here's to hoping he drops like a rock in this years draft. We could use him for 3 years since Amick decided to take his ball and go home.
