It was said we around 3 years before the money difference started to take effect. I'm not so sure it's that far out now.

Everyone with half a brain saw this several years ago. But we needed a landing spot and a way out of a crushingly bad contract. It looks more and more like Clemson missed the window of opportunity.

Give Clemson the SEC money and watch teams like the Gamecocks get shelled. It's as simple as tbat and they know it. If they were good with where they are they wouldn't be bringing in so many portal players. UGA, Bama, and Clemson will never bring in 10 - 15 a year. Teams that are scrambling make those moves. Clemson is fine. We need a new DC and maybe 3 more pickups to replace tbe losses and we are right back in tbe playoffs. And we will win in the playoff next season. You can mark that.

It might still happen but likely more under the super conference that breaks away. I don’t see us going anywhere before then unless ACC/ESPN support it.

Actually should have been early 80s. When S***head Swofford led the pile on of ACC penalties after NCAA penalties, we should have told them to pound sand.

It wasn't someone at the SEC who signed Clemson and FSU to those GOR deals. To the extent Clemson and FSU are left for dead, they did to themselves.

I agree with the people who think Clemson is an SEC team. They're built like one, recruit like one, and have the fan support like one. Despite the never ending bashing of all things SEC that goes on here, most of the bashers would cut off an arm to have Clemson leave the ACC and joing the SEC. In the end, it comes down to dollars. Will Clemson bring in to the SEC more than they would take out? Or, as you note, is it in the SEC's interests (financial or otherwise) to keep Clemson out of the B1G? If the answer is "yes" to either, it's only a matter of time.

At this point I'd take B10 money and the opportunity to be on 3 of the 4 major networks CBS, NBC and FOX. They make more than the SEC - have more exposure on all those networks and be only one of a couple of southern teams recruiting in the B1G.
