Chris Denson

5

Dec 14, 2024, 9:23 AM

He looks like he is going to be very good. Go to his 247 profile and on his JUNIOR year tape the first play is him breaking like 6 tackles and somehow managing to score a long TD. And as you watch more he looks good while on the run, he completed what looked to be about a 35 yard pass on the run and hit the WR in the breadbasket. His ability to pass with his ability to run makes me think we might have another Cade Klubnik on our hands. Glad Garret Riley did something good. Go Tigers!

His tape kinda reminds me of the SMU QB we just faced.

He's a poor man's Lamar Jackson...so maybe he can blow up like he did.

The analysis says he is "unconventional" and needs to "fine tune his mechanics". There is, to my untrained eye, something different about his throwing motion but he has a very quick release, has a nice touch on the ball and can throw it a long way. He looks really good for a 3 star... what am I missing?

Even as he learns, having him on the scout team should help iron out the fits playing against a running QB gives our defense.

I don’t know what tape you watched but 247 is junior tape.

Hoping he turns out better than Cade. Cade COULD end up being elite next year as he has made strides this year in the right direction. Cade needs to stay consistent through the entire game. He has quarters he absolutely disappears. Which is the coaching staff getting conservative playing not to lose. Gotta turn em loose and play to win!

Time will tell on Denson. He’s far too light to start. He’s a low three star recruit because he’s only 6’1” 175lbs. If he can get to 210lb (a stretch) he will be a more durable starter. At 175lbs he’s get broken in half by 320lb lineman and 220lb linebackers. “Get your weight up son!” comes to mind.

Please tell me that’s sarcasm. Elite is DW4 and TL16. Cade isn’t close to elite. Cade is a solid D1 QB. He needs to enjoy college while it lasts because he won’t be an NFL QB

That Sr. tape looks good in several areas:

1) downfield vision, always looking for receivers, even when scrambling

2) his deep ball hits guys in stride

3) elusive quickness and speed, he can make things happen running the ball

I get the concern about his size, but he could be the next Joey Hamilton (GT)...or the next Tony McNeal if he can't hold up physically.

247 had Lamar Jackson as a 3 star recruit back in the day. I'm not saying Denson will be Lamar...but I'm not sure how many people expected Lamar to be Lamar.

It will be interesting to see if Denson develops and becomes a significant contributor in the years ahead.

Lamar Jackson type is what you need in college. Jennings of SMU is similar. Rich Rod has made a living off the running QB. He is one of the best OC in the business
