Can we talk about Travis Etienne?

I know I know - we’ve had some great running backs in Clemson history.
But there is only one ETN. The greatest running back in ACC history.
I mean come on! Look at these freaking stats. The dude ran through, around, and over just about everyone he played.
Despite being a relatively poor pass catcher (he improved but was never elite) this dude was absolutely ELECTRIC to watch.
I love CJ Spiller - and I am well aware of his legacy.
But there will never ever be another Travis Etienne.

with the team we had 7-9 years ago. Even better I'd like to have seen them both on the team during that period.

Everyone always forgets JD was there and CJ got breaks. Etienne never left the field his last 3 seasons.

What are you talking about? We shared the load when ETN was the main dog. He was just THAT BEASTLY that he showed out despite not toting the rock every single down.
FWIW he averaged around 13 carries a game in his career.

Thats the good thing about a sports board...everyone has an opinion and thats great.Stats are one thing but offenses change over time and I have seen a lot of great RBs and FBs at Clemson ( I know,no FB's now) but its very difficult to name the best...just all in who you pick.

The only thing constant is change. For now ETN is in a class by himself.

I think you may have put Spillers rushing yards comparing to Davis scrimmage yards. The stats I see are: Spiller 3547 rushing 1420 receiving 4967 scrimmage Davis 3881 rushing 441 receiving 4322 scrimmage

And take whatever positive yards were available when the explosive play just wasn't going to happen. Dancing in the backfield too long on plays that weren't going to be big was the one complaint I had with CJ! Of course sometimes he would still pull out a miracle though.

The thing I loved most about ETN was his attitude and demeanor. He wasn’t boastful or cocky. When he scored a TD or had a good run he just grinned and tossed the ball to the ref and trotted back to the huddle or sideline. I do miss that guy.
