Play two deep safties and cut-block our D-line?
Sure seems like it.

Doubt it. We just played like crap. We'd probably blow them out if we played again.

Based on what evidence against good teams?
LOL, Wes is gonna magically figure out how to stop a good offense?

Yep cut blocks killed us. DLine is and has struggled in my opinion. The back end is having to play near perfect because they are not generating any pressure. Not sure what the LB’s are doing but it’s not stopping the run after they get past the first level.

Beating cut blocks is easy.

Line the defensive line up a step off the ball, pre snap. Cut blocks then whiff and the D linemen can just jump over or run around the guys in the ground.
Doing that also opens up lanes for blitzers. Guys on the ground can't block them.
We used to use this tactic all the time against the Paul Johnson Ga Rech triple option teams. It usually worked.
It was baffling why our D never switched to this against Louisville. It's not like it's a secret.

The maddening part of this is that it's not like we didn't know what was coming. Dabo admitted we knew the cut block would be part of their strategy to slow us down.

..simply to give me TDs, regardless of the topic.
That's epically weak and speaks to the unfortunate intentional ignorance of some who post here. That stuff is embarrassing to Clemson.
The best part? I don't care about TDs or TUs, for that matter. I just take the opportunity to LMAO at them. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

It's really dependent on if a team's defense

can cover our WRS with man coverage and still get penetration with 4 rushing the QB. UGA was able to. Routes can't develop if both these things occur. Louisville was also able to cover our WRs in man and get pressure with 4 dropping 2 safeties in zone. The answer is to run the ball but by the time we committed to doing so we were already down 2 possessions and the missed FGS hurt big time.

Our DC needs to pull his angry attitude up and start blitzing, change schemes often, and basically keep their offense guessing. I have seen none of this. Pure vanilla. I think he is afraid to chance anything.

Last season it seemed like we blitz a whole lot more. Haven't seen much of the aggression this season.

Yeah, if we were able to establish the run early--maybe Mafah rips off 2-3 20 yard plays--their defensive scheme would have changed and the game looks a lot different. But we didn't start gashing them on the ground until later and at that point we were already down 10+. Offensive line came out flat, defense couldn't make tackles, and once you get down 2 scores like that you start to panic... well, most coaches do... ours just keep chugging along, run 6 minute, 15+ play drives and settle for field goals when you're down 3 scores.

Remember Smiling, Dabo said “we were Prepared for the Cut Blocking” -yet- every time Louisville cut our DL they were on the Ground like a Heap of Bricks!!!!
