Anyone else nervous

I love all the hype and excitement this team is getting from fans and the media but is anyone else also really nervous. To me it almost feels like guys like mcelroy and pate that have us ranked 1 have us there so if we do meet the expectations we all have as fans then they can say oh we knew all along but it also feels like some analysts are doing it so they can break us down if we come out like we have been since Trevor left and fail to meet expectations. I think this group has the pieces to be really special but I always prefer it when we fly under the radar.

Nope. Sounds like coot musings to me. Nothing since ‘69 and nothing before will do that to you.

Yes me being a little nervous about a team who 4 years in a row has failed to meet expectations and come out extremely slow and has lost 3 of our last 4 season openers including a loss to Duke but being a little nervous makes me a coot. Great analysis👍

It’s tradition. Low pulse score and I missed your first poast.
In all seriousness, I get trepidation. However, I haven’t felt more confident in many years. The glaring issues are gone. We have competitive depth at EVERY position and return more quality starters than most two teams combined. Add in the fact that the Goodwin experiment was replaced with a legit DC and it’s looking great. Our biggest foe will be ourselves.

I completely agree with all those points and I think we should have a great year and I mainly think it's more so me trying to keep my expectations down but it just feels like it could set us all up for another let down. But I am also excited to see how this season could turn out

You had greater “expectations”?
Did you witness the DJU era. Can’t be elite with a qb on that level.
Cade was a developmental QB but is coming into elite form. With a defense, we go back to the playoffs.

Yes I had greater expectations when dju was taking over at qb against uga after throwing for over 400 yards on the road at nd as a true freshman despite losing that game because of the defense. I also had greater expectations after our new qb came into the acc championship game and won the mvp of that game. I also didn't expect us to get smoked by Louisville at home in primtime. So yes you can say I has greater expectations just like the rest of the fan base.

Little nervous, yes. It is hard for a group of 18-22 year olds to read the articles and not lose focus. Hopefully our seniors who lost to Duke remember the sting of that loss to help keep this team laser focused on winning the opener and each game thereafter.

i have a serious question for you? i have been criticized for pleading with Dabo to get a punter. Do you feel confident or nervous in our punting situation? we have a career backup that hasnt been able to win the punters job until everyone else graduated punting for us this year. so question is , it is 4th down deep in our own territory against LSU. with less than 2 minutes left and the Tigers up 31-30, how nervous are you with us needing to get off a great punt ??? Be honest

Agree and that’s my point , you can’t be serious about competing for a title when you can’t punt when needed and flip the field .

That might depend on how he performed with his chances the first 57 minutes. Even so, I get what you're saying. I have no idea what to expect.

I went back and watched the ACC Championship game and if it hadn't been for a couple of busted coverage plays the 1st half we would have been in deep kimchi.

I don’t get nervous until the team runs down the hill right before the game. Still months away enjoy the summer first.

I def get what you’re saying but I think this team is full of upperclass starters/experience and they know they are the class/classes that haven’t been back to the title. I fully expect this team to have their eye on the prize all year! Plus I love we have an energetic and proven DC this year. Last year we had all the parts but lacked tackling and some of the basics. I don’t think the staff lets that happen this year. Don’t think Allen will allow sloppy tackling like last year!! Go Tigers!!!

I don’t doubt the thoughts of a coot as the theory is solid given the national analyst are trash for the most part and will say anything for clicks. The part you have wrong is being nervous as I am certain we will do very well this season. Dabo has methodically rebuilt the program so I would not bet against us if I were a coot

I get what you're saying but we've been in similar enough situations in years past and have been let down before. I do think we'll have a good year and should make a run at the title but was just interested in seeing if anyone else also had this slight thought in the back of there head as well

Here is a slight thought in the back of my head, what would a coot know about football championships? Perhaps post about WBB or pillow fight championships (which to my surprise is actually a thing).

And if every media analyst said we sucked the post would be “SEE EVEN THE MEDIA SEES THAT DABO SHOULDVE REPLACED THE ENTIRE TEAM AND PAID HIGH SCHOOLERS WHATEVER THEY ASKED FOR ITS OVER”

Not nervous but I do think we have been overhyped.

No matter what anyone says, Clemson has to beat LSU in the opener or win the ACC to have any chance at the CFP. Just like last year. Our only route to the CFP was as ACC champs after the losses. And even if we get into the CFP, it's a tournament now, so just like in the Big Dance, one bad day can tank the whole season (I think we will come to hate the expanded CFP).
I am excited to see the new defense, the WRs and to see the Shef story unfold.
So no, not nervous at all, but the season will play out the way it plays out. And that is different from how it used to be.
