Tell people it went missing around Lake Moultrie when it's really out in the ocean getting recovered by the military, and you keep the public away.

Our military leaders must be worried that the Chinese spies who Biden invited into the USA will find the plane before the military can recover it.
Therefore, our military leaders have cited Lake Moultrie as being the crash site to deceive the Chinese.
If the fishing guides at Lake Moultrie are suddenly all booked up with Chinese customers, then we’ll have a good idea.
If the plane ends up being found elsewhere, then Biden will push through a give-away trade deal with PRC to compensate the Chinese government for Biden’s failure to deliver a F-35 ti them.
Biden always makes money for his partners.

If you have followed the long and sordid history of the F-35 program since this tax dollar sinkhole was first conceived by the Pentagon flyboys it's not hard to imagine one could fall out of the sky with the brass having no idea where it went... Just like a lot of our tax dollars that the military industrial complex was given to build the F-35 - the brass doesn't know where a lot of that went either.
