back to sleep for a while( and this is VERY rare) so I pulled up the North Carolina game to watch and it hit me....For the past two years, we have not had a back up QB play ANY meaningful minutes. I mean, it absolutely could not have been more than 10 minutes total,because we never had game control until it was basically over....until the North Carolina game.....AND THEN, the back up came in with 6 minutes to go in the first quarter ....AND HIS BACK UP GOT TO PLAY THE ENTIRE 4th QUARTER.....Just a thought!

game time 20+ mins.
CK could have closed out the LaTech game, when he was brought in up comfortably, 34-6.
CU under CK went 3 & out, 4 & out while LaTech scored back to back TDs to make it 34-20. CK was benched for DJU who drove the Tigers for two TDs, making it 48-24, then DJU closed it out with a game ending drive.

Yeah right. Another coaching meltdown in the LA tech game. After being up 34-6 , Dabo started emptying the bench on both sides of the ball.
Cade came in late 3rd qtr. He came in with a bench dump. Had ej Williams and swinney to play with... along with some backup oline. Didn't exactly give cade a punchers chance.
2nd series was killed by oline holding. Then when they made it 34-20, DJ5 and all the ones came back in and play calling was to score. Cade should have gotten a series with the ones when it was 27-6. Again, he was set up to fail then too. Especially when our 2's weren't close to the talent of the ones.

It's about Cade's performance which was 2/5, 19 yards and a 5.3 QBR. He had no problem against a better defense closing out against GT. Now it's a problem, because of his play. It was bad and he got benched for it.
Will Taylor, Drew Swinney, Dominique Thomas...
Being pulled in ND was about Cade's performance, throwing a terrible pick 6 falling backwards and into the pursuing defense, when he had a wide open AW early. You hit AW or throw it away. He did neither and got pulled.
He handed off against Cuse, but he showed the same bad habit there, taking a terrible sack.
You do not continue to throw a freshman into the mix when he's not playing to his potential. You don't reinforce bad habits and the last thing you need is your Top 2 QBs questioning themselves. That's exactly what CDS & Streeter have openly discussed. They, the staff, have an obligation to the young man to bring him along at his pace, unless the situation demands other.

a better opponent, a P5 opponent on the road and not a lower tier opponent at home. He was put in the perfect situation to perform freely and failed to do so in DV. It's okay, it happens.
If you and others would, but check your hearts at the door, as people should do with history, assumption biased math, et al, you'd be able to put much of the emotional baggage aside.
It encumbers you as if you're drunk, clouding vision and judgement, making critical analysis & thought near impossible, as it replaces reason with madness.

Geez Gal, not buying Streeter’s narrative? Cade did get meaningful time against GT - on his own 2 with two minutes left .. he got a few needed practice hand offs. Our coaches looked like buffoons all year their QB decisions. Despite what we saw every week - “He’s great, it was our D, our WR’s” .. but never the QB. Oddly, given a fair chance to bail him out again while losing in our last game, our WR’s could suddenly catch and the D along with the rest of the team caught fire. Had they kept him in for the game (like against our loss to the Coots), there would be no OB because we would have lost. Better late than never I guess but, too late (never)for the Coots and the CFP.

Texas, a former high school H.C., sent a message toward the end of the ACCCG: "See what I told you...."
We never know how a high school player's talents will translate over into the collegiate level until we see them play a while. But this same cousin thinks we are about to see talent rivalling DW4's or Trevor's. I respect his judgment due to his connections across Texas at the high school level, plus the fact that he saw Cade in action a number of times.
Time will tell, and we'll get another dose come Friday. But I'm excited to see how the entire team performs under his leadership.

until the NC game. What is Clemson football?
1) Complementary ball - offense feeds off the defense and vice versa.
2) There is significant "garbage time" because the game is in hand well before the 4th qtr.
3) All the kids on the bench get a chance to play, which is good for morale AND builds depth.
4) Back up QB gets significant snaps in most games, see above.
We had not seen that in two full seasons until the ACCCG.
Now, can we even beat TN with a freshman QB? I am not sure. But at least we got a glimpse of real Clemson football in the ACCCG and I hope we see it again on a regular basis next season.

Clemson's 4 worst offenses, since theChad and the Clemson, smash-mouf, spread HUNH.
Coming into 2022 Clemson had lost 5 of 7 starters in the back group from a Top 5-10 defense[2021]. It was the huge question mark coming into the season, which was brutally exposed against Wake and South Carolina, plus significant busts elsewhere.
Clemson still finished ~Top 5 in sacks & tackles for loss, which spoke to the play of the front, including eating blocks so the LBs could play free.
