Question for fellow T-Netters
Apr 2, 2018, 10:44 AM
|
|
I rarely post on here but I read the TNet multiple times a day. But I felt compelled to share this.
I attended a wedding on Saturday in which the groom is a USuCk alum. After the introduction of the bride and groom at the reception they announced they had a “special guest”. It was at that moment I heard “Sandstorm” begin to play and immediately felt sick to my stomach.
Down the steps came the Coots’ beloved mascot Cocky. I leaned over my 6-year old daughter and told her this was the most ridiculous thing she will ever see. A moment later a could see that my daughter had started to cry. And when I say cry I mean the type of crying that is almost beyond consoling. I asked her if she was scared of it and she replied no she wasn’t scared, but that she didn’t know why that “dumb thing was here and she wanted it to leave because she doesn’t like Gamecocks at all”. She also informed me that it just looks dumb and it dances weird. She also asked “why couldn’t it be the Tiger that came. It was then that she buried her face in my shoulder refusing to look at it. I had never felt more parenting success than at that very moment.
Another thing I want to ask is this.....I passed up the opportunity to have my picture taken with the tranny bird and 4-bomb it in the process. Though I wanted to do so very badly after seeing all of the times in which they bombed Dabo, I also wanted not to stoop to the level of a coot. My question is did I do the right thing in not 4-bombing Cocky or did I waste away a golden opportunity for revenge?

I think you did the classy thing. At least you are raising your daughter right. I was at a coot softball game to see my niece play. Cocky was there and I asked my six year old if he wanted his picture with Cocky. "No" was the quick answer. My son also caught a shirt they threw out. He generously gave it to another young boy a couple of years older than he.
Kudos for your "parenting success"!

Yep, having a small child four bomb cocky while you stand behind the camera laughing would have been hilarious. That would have been the cherry on top of the already parenting success. Good story. I got a good laugh out of that.

doing the right thing at the ceremony itself. You should have spoken up and objected to the wedding when prompted to do so on the grounds that the groom is a coot. A true Clemson gentleman would've escorted the bride out of there safely and saved her from a life of misery.

A good Clemson man would have just shot Cocky.
It is way easier to ask forgiveness than it is to ask permission.

But it may turn out wrong when you finally meet her boyfriend Jamie one day, and discover Jamie is actually a woman.

Carrying on in an internet forum is one thing but I stay away from the classless type of behavior that is so rampant among their fanbase.

You made a sad mistake for not 7 bombing him by holding up fingers behind his back like they do Dabo, and two close to cocky like a peace sign, most tiger would have known what you meant if they ever saw the pic!!! You passed up a great chance for get back!!!

Since you didn't have a flame thrower to burn those coots to a crisp there was really nothing else you could have done.

Not everything needs to be about the rivalry. You’re a guest at his wedding, let him have his fun.
