India is a better strategic option as a mfger if American high tech goods than PRChina.
Any thought about whether the Trump tariff component of international trade negotiations had anything to do with this?
Not that you or I (or anyone reading this thread) would know, but we should all be prepared to discount the sure-to-happen press conference in which trade representatives from the US and India, along with executives from Apple, laud the Apple investment as a sign of the progress of the India / USA trade talks.
Again, just for fun, what do you think?

from. But India is the next logical step, and the ROI in China has been shrinking as their economy, currency, and living standards have risen. Off to the next cheap labor source, and India is an obvious top candidate, along with Vietnam.

Until China bans American Cinema, TV, Games, etc... they won't be much of an "enemy", Xi did threaten this BTW.. I believe Michael Bay Movies make more money in China than in the US. And while on the topic, besides our military, the American Film and Television industries have contributed the most to our modern, international cultural dominance.

They can keep plenty of manufacturing in China to make phones for non-US markets, and moving completely out of China might hurt them there. But it's good business to diversify, especially now. I fear China is going to take Taiwan in the next 4 years while we have so much incompetence from the top down.

If only Trump would get on the Biden Bribe Belt Road plan with PRC, then we Americans would all be safe.
If only …

That's been in the works for awhile now. Apple's one of the most exposed companies in the world due to their China manufacturing but they've been steadily (and quietly) moving their supply chain out of the country for awhile now. Last year Foxconn - one of their primary manufacturers - abruptly relocated a manufactory campus that had something like 100,000 employees...pretty much overnight.
This has been happening all over China for awhile now. Western companies are running as fast as they can shutter plants. Everybody knows the end's coming for the Chinese and nobody wants to be the last one left holding the bag. (That'll get to be Elon. Gigafactory Shanghai delivers close to half Tesla's vehicles. Winning.)
