Seems that Brownell may have acted like a male reproductive unit, and the father has made statements which propagate his son acting like a female reproductive unit. Both of which are which are undesirable but neither worth a great deal of discussion.

My choice to use the word "mass" is a matter of opinion and in my opinion more players and coaches are leaving than should be. Why is that? Once again you don't answer the question and resort to calling someone uninformed.

Players are transferring out because of this new entity called the transfer portal, coupled with the fact that the NCAA has said that the 2020-2021 COVID year doesn't count against eligibility and there will be no penalty for transferring.
The result is that there are thousands of players in the transfer portal. Clemson has had three players this year enter the portal, one of whom was a senior and not expected to return (Trapp), one was a junior who saw his playing time cut in half last year (Newman), and one was a freshman who played a handful of minutes a game (Prosper).
These were not major losses for us. Newman wasn't going to contend for a starting spot next year, and Prosper probably wasn't either based on his minutes this past season.
To put this in context, many teams have over 5 players who have entered the transfer portal. Us having 3 transfers in this day and age is not significant. Not even close to a "mass exodus."
We lost two coaches, both of whom left for promotions. Simmons was a head coach prior to us hiring him a few years ago, and left to take a head coaching position. Goins left to be an assistant at Boston College, for more money and to be closer to his father-in-law who is in poor health. Neither of these departures should be viewed as some sort of "evidence" that there are issues within the program.
We have a great transfer coming in from USF who is a talent upgrade. He will likely start for us on day one. We also just hired an assistant coach who is widely regarded as a very good recruiter, and by all indications is a very good hire.

I know Coach B personally as I have worked closely with the basketball program. This is a load of crap, so many kids in this generation are soft. You are a walk-on and you are a member of the team however the coaches would 10 times out of 10 take a great manager over a bad walk on for a road trip. Walk ons get zero praise and you have to have thick skin period

...yeah, sounds like he was bullied. When I was growing up (and walking 5 miles to and from school in the snow - up hill each way (at least it felt like that)), the invectives against players that my, and many a coach used, just to make a point to improve production and performance, would put them in jail these days. So glad this is put to rest, without the so called incriminating details.

I commanded a platoon of Marines for a year in Viet Nam and I never had to talk to any of them like BB did ...... IF what is being claimed is true. I had ways of disciplining them and once kicked one squarely in the a.s.s as hard as I could when he let loose with a .50 cal machine gun when I told him to hold his fire, but I didn't have time to explain what "do not" meant ..... lives depended on it. I have supported BB and am extremely disappointed if that is his idea of leadership. The way the situation was apparently handled does not make anyone look good. And keep in mind, it was not the player that wanted any of this to come out.

The kid is a “preferred walk-on” not a scrub filling a scout team uniform.
There are much higher expectations for players who stand to earn a full scholarship than for ordinary walk-one.
Apparently the player was not fulfilling expectations.
Good luck from here on out getting another opportunity thanks to helicopter dad on world-wide social media.

Lack of ANY success in postseason play has yet to be resolved. BB's record has, on paper, been reasonably good during the regular season. This just proves that he is mediocre. He can beat lesser teams, but when it comes to motivation and tournaments, he repeatedly gets out coached, out played and here we are, once again, with no friggin acc tourney crown.

I'll be clear. I am a firm believer in discipline and it starts from the very beginning of what ever it is you are doing. However, if you let it slide to the point that you have to fly off the handle and say these things Brownell is alleged to have said, then it is a failure in leadership. McBride should have been running steps, running laps, or otherwise disciplined before it came to this I guess my biggest disappointment is Brownell's failure in leadership and to address the problem.
To be an effective coach, you have to be an effective leader. I am not sure that BB is that and we will just have to wait and see. I'm really disappointed because I liked him.

DRad and Clemson HR (state gov) put out the exact letter they had to. I commend them for that. At the same time, you can bet your bottom dollar it's being investigated. This really has nothing to do with what was said to the kid.
I've seen many posts about the dad's a zealous parent, the kids a snowflake yada yada... And I just have to laugh at the stupidity. A Clemson man needs no introduction, and sadly, Brad Brownell is not even close. You can continue the attacks on the family and the kid, whatever. But you should really look and try to read the tea leaves. Mr McBride is actually trying to do Clemson a favor.
CBB may very well be a good tactician, but good tacticians doesn't equate to being a good leader all the time. Not the first time and won't be the last of CBB behavior towards underlings. Brownells persona, or lack thereof has hurt Clemson. I hope the AD and Clemson HR department addresses this... But after 11 years, it doesn't appear to be the case.

Apparently DRAD is thrilled with a mediocre basketball program that doesn't get put on probation. The Clemson basketball job is great gig - keep a clean nose and play NIT level ball and you have no worries.

We're getting one walk-on's perspective conveyed to one father who is both biased and possibly agenda-driven. Did CBB REALLY say that we lost a post-season game for because of the Walk-ons? Or did he use the loss as an opportunity to point to the value of the walk-ons, and how, if they don't do their job properly, it hurts the team?
I've said on here many times that I don't care if CBB stays or goes. I don't pay much attention one way or the other. But this ridiculous 40 minute video stinks to high Heaven. This man (O'Neil's father) really shouldn't be given any consideration, nor should his move be allowed to sway our program.

Sounds like this is a helicopter dad at best and that if he's acting like this on a public platform then his son likely is lazy and entitled.
BOO HOOO! This is light talk compared to what I've heard on the football field. My guess is this player's parents have always had something to say....little league rec. to High School now to Clemson.

Are you though? You seemed to enjoy the negative CBB press, judging by your posts on the matter. As far as PR, it was never a public issue until daddy made it so. McBride is the one that handled it poorly, not Clemson. The public was not entitled to anything, though a handful tried to use it as a opportunity to lynch our coach, again... Oh well though, right?
