Oliver Tarvet, who plays for San Diego is one of the top players in the country in college. Surprisingly qualified for and won a round at Wimbledon.

But now he can’t received the prize money until he goes pro. Yet could get NIL money in theory? Very weird

someone should give it to him as NIL or hold it in trust till he turns pro or finishes eligibility.. If were not going to be amateurs then be consistent. this is stupid

Why is it hard to understand that professional athletes are either employees of a team or self employed (golf, tennis etc.)? College athletes who receive NIL money are not professionals and cannot receive prize money.

How exactly are NIL contracts drafted through agents any different than the contracts “pro” athletes sign through their agents?

Pay for play is pay for play no matter how you want to spin it.
