Woodrow Dantzler was a work horse behind center, and he didn't have a bad arm with short to 20 yards down field passes, and he could move for his body type!!!! IMO, a Woody from back then, on a team with the talent that we have now, he could have been a NC QB!!!!

of my buddies and his dad, who were wolfpackers, and another clemson buddy of mine. I think there was a point where the wolfpacker buddy regretted bringing us along. You couldn't help but cheer and get excited. Woody was going off.

in those two games, I have never seen a single player so single-handedly take a team on its back and bring them victory. I am pretty sure Dantzler had a hand in 1,000 yards of offense alone in those two games.

A few things I remember besides Dantzler's amazing day and ability to stay up:
1. Eric Meekins laid out some NC State player
2. An NC State Rep came over to ask the Clemson band to play less Tiger Rag because they needed to run stadium ads. Our band director was chomping an apple, took another bite, looked over at the guy, shrugged and said "we score, we play." It was hilarious.
3. The refs were terrible and the only reason State was in the game. They were actually suspended by the ACC for a week after reviewing the game.

It took him a little while to gain a college athletes body once he got to Clemson, but once he did, that same Wizard showed up again, big time.

I have been watching Clemson football for over 65 years. Woody was the most exciting, electric player for Clemson that I have ever seen. A coach once told me about Woody, "you couldn't catch him if the two of you were in a phone booth."

Could you all imagine if he had our current weapons and coaching staff to work with? Forget National Titles, the Heisman would be a foregone conclusion because Woody was THE most ELECTRIFYING man in College football! He would have provided those Sports Center Highlights that you have to have..like Lamars leap etc. He was a winner in a way that only DW4 has come close. He was able to pull victory out of the hands of Tommy and defeat many times in my opinion, and frankly if RichRod hadn't left we may have won even more with him under center, as Rich knew how to utilize his talents.

Woody was awesome.
The concepts on offense were similar to current but college football defenses were still typical old school middle linebacker. Makes me think about KB2 being teleported back to that era and what crazy things he could have done.
