Once again, Kirby selling his soul

This guy doesn’t care about anything but winning….at any costs.

Arik Gilbert is back with the team. After this guy told CKS to go &$&$ himself and kicked off team last season. Now that his #1 WR transferred to Bama, he was left with only 84 five star players. He had to fill that 85th.

Kirby is just Ed Orgeron 2.0. Caught lighting in a bottle one time. Won’t happen again. Now with him and nick saban crying about nil its hilarious. They know jimbo is about to start spanking them. Maybe not this year with all the freshman but definitely next year.

Kirby will win multiple NC at uga. They have too much talent for them not to win. Alabama in sec can slow them down for now until Saban retire.

Two. 1980 and 2021. Kirby has one title (with all tha talent) and Dabo has two (playing an ACC regular season schedule).

Kirby has stacked 5 consecutive top 3 recruiting classes, Kirby is 1-3 in the SEC championship game. Georgia had rely on the weakest schedule they had in several years & two knee injuries to get to that title. They will never win another one. Kirby is not a good coach

Go look at the recruiting classes Dabo & Kirby has brought in since Kirby’s first year. Kirby has out recruited Dabo every year…… and here we are. Kirby cannot beat a healthy Bama. Meanwhile Dabo has beat the top programs in the country with slightly less talent. He’s just simply a superior coach.

I believe Karma will catch up with Kirby before Saban retires. He has had a lot of talented teams but has 1 NC.

What Dabo has accomplished at Clemson is more impressive that Bama, LSU, or UGA. These teams are always expected to be successful. But Dabo in my opinion topped them hill because no one expect Dabo ever expected Clemson to become one of the Elite 4 or 5 schools and play for 4 NC’s winning 2 and playing in 6 consecutive CFP games, handing Urban Meyer his first and only shut out in his college HCing career. And there’s more. I don’t have to tell you guys. I am positive Saban, Kirby or Ed O. Could Not have accomplished what Dabo has accomplished at Clemson.

And Dabo accomplished without selling his soul! Kirby sold his soul while working under Saban who sold his soul years ago.

I still remember his PC after the Miami Dolphins lost again with Saban as their HC. He was ask if he was going to leave Miami for Bama. Remember his response was No.

We’re are very fortunate to have hired Dabo. A man of strong courage and character. A great HC, a great boss, a great husband and father creating a great Culture at Clemson. A true man of God!

Re: Once again, Kirby selling his soul

Feb 27, 2022, 7:17 AM

There is no denying Dabo's success at Clemson. Dabo won his first national title during his 8th full season as HC. You can trace this to the hiring of Venables (remember W. Virginia?). So far, Dabo's success has been married to that hire. We'll see moving forward if Dabo can keep things at a championship level. There is an argument to be made that Clemson on a downward trajectory. National title TL's freshman year, bad loss in finals the following year, followed by a bad loss in the playoff, followed by not winning the division. This is a big year for Dabo. For what it's worth, I think he wins the ACC and is back in the playoff this season.

Clemson is very fortunate to have Dabo. He is a poven HC. You may not want to admit this to yourself, but your praise about him as a husband and father is misplaced. Other than what he says publicly, you know nothing about his relationship with his wife or God. He says things in front of a camera you like hearing, but in reality, you don't know anymore about him personally than you do Kirby Smart or any other coach. I suspect if Kirby Smart spoke of his personal faith you'd call him disingenuous. And why? Because he coaches at a team you don't root for. You'll toss around things like "sold his soul," which is the new narrative now that you can't fall back on "Kirby can't win the big game." But, you won't provide one concrete example of what it means that Kirby "sold" his soul.

Re: Once again, Kirby selling his soul

[1]
Feb 27, 2022, 7:29 AM

Here’s one concrete example that I’d like for you to explain. 40-45 “de-commits”over the past 5-6 recruiting cycles. For comparison, Clemson has had 6, 4 of which came right after BV left.

flag link

Re: Once again, Kirby selling his soul

Feb 27, 2022, 7:53 AM

I can't explain all those commits anymore than you can but I suspect there are a number of reasons. UGA recuits at a high level every year. Some of those guys come to realize they aren't going to play at UGA so they transfer to a place they can. I'm sure at times coaches explain that reality to some and encourage players to explore other options. I'm sure there are those who decide the leave the coaches wish would stay. If you're suggesting Kirby calls a player into this office and takes his scholarship - kicking the kid out of school - I'd find that hard to believe but I'm willing to look at the evidence you have of that. Either way, does that really require "selling" of soul?

Perhaps Dabo takes a different approach. Maybe he doesn't "sell his soul" by having discussions with players he knows aren't going to see the field much or help the team win. I suspect as long as Dabo is justifying that 8.3 mil per year (or whatever it is) by winning championships, everyone can brag on his recruiting and retention of players.

military_donation.jpg flag link

Re: Once again, Kirby selling his soul

[1]
Feb 27, 2022, 8:33 AM

spin it anyway you want, but you know too well what he is doing. It's called "continue to recruit a position after you get a commitment". There are countless examples of these "de-commits" at or around signing day, only to have multiple 5*/elite talent players commit on signing day. If someone better comes along, he finds room for them and forces the previous commitment out. There has NEVER been a time that Ga didn't have room for "one more" if that one more is better.

If it were only a few cases, your points would be valid - but when the numbers are this high; that is selling your soul.

It happens in a lot of schools, but mostly in Ohio and Georgia where all the high school coaches are in bed with the top school....neither has any competition in the state. And don't try to tell me you have Ga Tech.

flag link

Re: Once again, Kirby selling his soul

Feb 27, 2022, 8:44 AM

How many of those 40-45 decommits fall under the scenario you describe? Don't use "countless." Be specific.

Let's go with what you've descibed. Saban, Kirby, Jimbo, Ryan Day and coach Whomever all take this approach and it results in winning championships. Dabo chooses not to do that and doesn't win another championship. In fact, he falls behind....let's day Doeren at NC State, who becomes the new bell cow of the ACC. You want Dabo to adapt his recruiting methods or accept being an also-ran? You gonna be okay with "culture" over titles? Let's not pretend we don't know why those coaches are paid multi-millions per year.

Re: Once again, Kirby selling his soul

Feb 27, 2022, 11:46 AM

You’re just digging for bull #### at this point. Dabo is a great man & we know that because he has been accused of zero scandal’s. He has constantly held his program to a high standard & that is proven through the academic success & success on the field. UGA has one of the if not the lowest GPA in the entire SEC. Kirby only cares about football, not building better people or pushing his guys to be successful outside of football. He constantly lets scum bags stay on the team if they are talented even if they make huge mistakes. Clemsons success has over shadowed UGA’s in every way possible. We will see if UGA is not on a downward trajectory considering how much they lost. It’s real easy to talk after being handed a NC after a down year for college football

Oh and I don’t see how the 2020 NC game was a bad loss when Clemson was down by 10 in the fourth quarter to the best team college football has seen probably ever

flag link

Re: Once again, Kirby selling his soul

Feb 27, 2022, 12:15 PM

Since your standard of "a great man" is the absence of scandals, tell us of an actual Kirby Smart scandal. Not of the endless scandals Kirby has been convicted of on TNET, but the actual scandal. If you can't (and we all know you can't), then we will have to default, based on your definition, that Kirby Smart is a "great man."

Who is questioning what Dabo has done at Clemson? I'm pointing out that the poster - and you too for that matter - doesn't know the first thing about how he conducts himself with his wife or God. You can't possibly know if he's a good husband or father or what his actual relationship with God is. I know that is probably at odds what you'd like to believe. It's great to be a fan of your team's coach but stop with the worship. It's embarrassing.

Dabo has one title more than Kirby. You could certainly make the argument that Clemson has overshadowed UGA. Dabo has coached in more playoff games thay Kirby. Whether you want admit it or not, Clemson playing in the ACC has had a lot to do with that. Didn't seem to matter much in 2021 when UGA won the natty, beating Clemson along the way. We're going to know a lot more about Kirby Smart and Dabo Swinney at by the end of the 2022 season.

Lol and that has been the case for years …..yet it took over 40 years to happen. He recruits players that are more interested in their individual stats over team and that is hard to win with. Add to it that Kirby is not the brightest bulb in the box and that doesn’t bode well

flag link

We'll see if they win another title...

[2]
Feb 25, 2022, 9:24 AM

but the odds are freaking high that they will. The real measure should be playoffs, top 10 finishes, conference titles, etc.

Kirby is already head and shoulders above Orgeron. Kirby has played for two national titles, 4 years apart, he's been in a NY6 game 5 straight years, been in the top 10 - 5 straight years, top 10 recruiting every year. Really, he's just one play away from having two national titles.

As long as he is there, UGA will be one of the best programs and when Saban retires you are going to have knock Kirby off the throne in the SEC.

flag link

Re: We'll see if they win another title...

Man I’m just trolling uga lurkers. But kirby and Ed are similar. Ed never took over a program that was as strong as uga when kirby took over. Winning at uga is easy doesn’t matter who the coach is. Hard to compare. But in 3 years at the rate the nil is going Texas A&M and Texas is going to run the sec.

Perhaps, but you haven’t been paying attention to Kirby. This is just one of many. And how he over recruits positions after he gets commitments and then pushed them out for a better player, he will do these things at all costs.

The ship has sailed on that for Kirby. BUT, Gilbert was never “kicked off” the team. The kid has some kind of personal emotional problems he’s dealing with that led him too step away from football. Maybe he’s worked that out; I hope he has. I’ll root for him to be successful in living his life; I just won’t root for him to have any success on the football field.
