At 1 time I hoped he'd go to usuc, but they did even worse with muskrat. He will be a gift that keeps on giving, and he will give us a lot of great entertainment on TN.

he almost went back 3 times, almost sounds like he was planting the seed for the Bama administration, but I didn't hear the context of how he answered the question. I know a lot has changed but still ! Good thing his wife loves it here. I think he'd be foolish to go back, everything he has built here is all DABO ! If he goes back there it will just be expected to win and he'd be another brick in the wall. He is close to surpassing Danny Ford in legendary status here. And we love him for being Dabo. I hope he never leaves, but for now I am just going to enjoy the ride and worry about crossing that bridge if and when it happens.

All of these opportunities were for lower level jobs, before he became head coach of the Tigers. I'm not sure it really translates to what he would do now with the opportunity he has been given here and what he has built.

I agree with you ! Coach Howard was born, raised and played at Alabama and he is buried here. Danny Ford still resides here. There is something about Clemson that is unique and special

You are right. Any job, other than HC there would be a huge step down for him. Not to mention, he loves Clemson, and so does his lovely wife. I'm not sure he would leave now, even for the HC job back at AL. He is legendary now at Clemson. At AL he will just be another successful coach.

his loyalty to Alabama. If not now, then eventually. There's not another coach that I would rather have at the helm than Dabo. Not Saban, not anybody. The man is as great a leader as you'll find and I'd follow him thorough the gates of h3ll if he asked me to. I hope he retires at Clemson and I live to see it.

so was Frank Howard until he planted deeper roots as an adult in Clemson. It's debatable that he has done that here. He has two kids that were born here, he has built a program that is all his own. He has taken this program to a level it has never reached. The Clemson brand that is Dabo stamped has reached a pinnacle. I wasn't around during CDF's days, but my granddad and dad are very friends with CDF, and they even believe as far as exposure Dabo has done things that are uniquely his own. Granted, Coach Ford didn't have internet and other marketing tools at his disposal, but Dabo has done things here that had never been done. If he goes to Alabama it will be retreading water. Why would he give up a kingdom to be another long list of coaches that have been there and done that at Bama ?

Once you've been at the top, why change horses? And although money is the prime motivator for some, how many other head coaches do you know that have taken a pay cut so their coordinators could get a raise? I just don't see money as #1 for Dabo, though Bama would surely shower him with it. This is Dabo's house...he built it, he runs it. What more does he have to prove, or want?

My thoughts, too, but who knows what the decision will be when that happens (and I say "when", because I fully expect it will happen). I believe he will stay at Clemson for all the reasons you say, but it depends on what his dream is. He grew up with that dream, and he may feel like it's another mountain to climb. I hope not. He is a deity at Clemson. At AL he will be just another great coach.

that Dabo does the right thing even if it could cost the team a game. (Player suspensions comes to mind)
The Tide would have flipped a lid if he would have tried to suspend a "Watkins caliber" player during a power 5 opening game!
"What are you doing!!! This is the SEC, we can make this go away real easy like!!" lol

I bet he is glad he didn't get hooked up with that fool Mike Price who left Bama to go to A&M and then went to the strip club with the university credit card.....what an idiot. Dabo could be tight end coach at New Mexico State Junior College or where ever that was that Price wound up at.

So Clemson is having as great a season as it has ever had...

13-0, poised for a National Championship, stacked to the gills for years to come, reeling in 5*s left and right, clean, no external scandals, no internal scandals, no admin scandals, Heisman candidate QB, pipeline to the NFL, Dabo COTY, and so Finebaum asks him to reflect on the successes and the remarkable program he has built?...No, all he can think to ask Dabo is if he's considered coaching at Alabama. What an Effin' tool.
Hey Finebaum, does Saban know you've hired a moving van for him? Let him know when it's gonna be by the house so he can have his sh** packed up and ready to go.
Everytime I think this dbag can't stoop any lower he manages to embarrass himself just a little more.

It's the same thing with BV. Both of their sounds want to play for Clemson and both of them put family above everything else. I believe, by the time all of this has occurred, Clemson will be ready to have the keys turned over to one of the OCs. I'm thinking Elliot is being groomed for the position a few years down the road. I'm thinking about 8 or so years.

All of those offers were when he was an asst coach. He has made his own legacy since becoming head coach at Clemson. He would have to start having some real bad seasons to leave. And if that is happening, Bama is not offering anything

after Saban walks away, including Dabo. Kind of like "Nice job Elvis...now who's next on stage"? It will be worse than when Dean Smith retired and about six people turned them down for the job. That said, Dabo may follow the coach who gets fired 4 years after Saban leaves.
