NCAA May Be Investigating Numerous Schools for NIL Violations

As the NCAA likes to say, "show me the school and I'll show you the crime". This is especially true as schools and benefactors attempt to navigate new rules and the NCAA interprets the rules to fit the crime. They'll tell us who's dirty or not when they're ready. Post & Courier shed some light on this earlier this week. "TigerImpact, a nonprofit organized by Clemson boosters, reported to the IRS that it received $3.95 million in contributions in 2022, striking deals worth $2.4 million with the university’s athletes in the eight months following its founding in April 2022. The collective’s average contract that year was about $37,000 per athlete." Before the 2023 season kicked off they also reported, "It’s not immediately clear if TigerImpact, which has garnered more than $8 million in commitments from donors, can make a compelling argument that paying Clemson athletes to promote charities is “incidental” when compared to the greater good. It’s not clear, either, how quickly the IRS will actually get around to pulling 501(c)(3) status from collectives and force boosters to pay taxes on money donated for NIL deals; it could take years."

They bought this problem on themselves! Only an idiot would think otherwise! The NCAA is full of fools for thinking otherwise!

As usual, the NCAA will pick and chose what schools they will punish.

guilty of. Thats a IRS ruling/interpretation that would just cause individuals to pay extra taxes if those individuals deducted those donations on their return. Has nothing to do with the school.
