NCAA Football 13

Jul 27, 2012, 10:07 AM

As nerdy, and dorky as this sounds, what's your best strategy and play calling to use with Clemson? Thanks

Thinking of going and buying this today....hows the recruiting set up on it? Is it like the old one? I like the feature from the 11 year where you could make up your own conferences is that still on there

Patch fixes for the game

Jul 27, 2012, 3:29 PM [ in reply to Re: NCAA Football 13 ]

The first patch fix for this game will be July 31st and the final patch with many more fixes will be in late August.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

YOu have a scouting period as well

Jul 27, 2012, 3:30 PM [ in reply to Re: NCAA Football 13 ]

There have been some minor changes to recruiting. YOu can scout players and there are high recruits that become busts.

guess I'm nerdy and dorky too

It is better to ask for forgiveness rather than permission. Use it wisely.

establish the run, throw in some option and sweeps, then play action deep.

watch your passes, interceptions are out of control

agreed But atleast you can actually pass the ball without linebackers jumping ten feet in the air to knock passes down.

Run 4/5 WR sets often. A lot of Clemson's formations don't make use of guys like Bryant and Peake, because it's just Nuke, Sammy and Brown on the field.

I like to lineup 5 wide. Some people like to run the ball, but it's a video game so screw that. I'm reading defenses and throwing bullets all game.

As long as you are under 30 and not living with your mom, it isn't dorky. I'm way older than that, so I bought it for my son (wink, wink).

The one thing I HATE about NCAA 13

Jul 27, 2012, 10:27 AM

I try and run the hurry up, but all it ends up doing is getting Andre, Boyd, or Sammy hurt.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I don't use Clemson's playbook

Jul 27, 2012, 11:04 AM

It's too much spread run. Teams that blitz a lot will tear your head up. I use Arkansas (playbook), it has a lot of Shotgun, but it has standard I formation, and 2 offset I formations for when you gotta run, or need to really sell play action. But I play on-line and against good completion with my neighbor and a few co-workers. Clemson's playbooks limits you IMO. If you are playing the Cpu mostly, you can run 1 formation all game and destroy most teams. I ran 2 plays all game against Wake and Bellamy ran for 362, and Boyd threw for 320.
On HUNH, only give the ball to 1 player, 2 plays in a row at the most, spread the ball around and they won't get hurt, also after 4 plays if your not dancing in the endzone- don't go hurry up, give them a play or 2 to getsome rest.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

When your getting blitz

Jul 27, 2012, 12:06 PM

80% of the time the middle is going to be open (at least in the video game) so just hit sammy on a slant, or you can use quick screens usually that will keep them in check.

I like to run the triple option, and the shotgun! Hey, maybe a One back or a little I-formation as well!

short precision passes, and running out of the pistol. Watkins, and humphries are my go to recievers.

I use Florida's playbook because it seems almost impossible to run with Clemson's offense. Florida's offense has plays to help get receivers in space but also has some power running stuff in there.

It is a pretty fun game, but interceptions seem kind of out of control sometimes. Maybe I'm just not good at video games.

What? I use Clemson's playbook and I avg 40 points a game. In my 1st year of Dynasty mode, Tajh threw for 42 TD's, and Ellington had 1862 yards rushing. Im playing on Heisman now in my 2nd year and Im 10-0. I go no huddle alot during the game. In my 1st dynasty year. I beast Southern Cal 52-28 in the NC. And that was All American difficulty. Running the ball for Clemson isnt hard, just have to make the right reads.

I usually play with the Spread playbook. I pick my first play and usually run the hurry up out of it. As soon as my man is down, I'm hurrying up and lining back up. I usually just do that all the way down field, and audible from from the same formation. I basically establish the run, with a quick pass here and there. I also, run some more till the line backers play up to the line, and then hit them with a PA pass. Plus, throw the ball down field every once and awhile. It has worked for me, and I'm 7-1 playing the game against the computer (Heisman), online, and friends.

Plus, you get bunches of penalties in your favor, because people cant never get back on sides. It also doesn't give the other player time to adjust either.

U Drive, hit Sammy deep across the Middle

Jul 27, 2012, 3:35 PM

75% of the time its a TD with the guy.

Slants work really well, Just need to be quick on the pass. Anything toward the sidelines usually works okay.

Learn to read the DB and tell the difference between zone and man. I usually have a WR Im looking for on each one. Man Im looking for the guy on the comeback, Zone Im looking a little deeper toward the sidelines. If it goes bad, the RB out of the backfield.

I use a bunch of pistol and shotgun flex, offset, wing offset, etc because it meshes so well. Occasionally mix in some ace. It is custom but more of an authentic Morris playbook. Practice option plays and screens until you can read d like a champ. Count the box. I average over 38 ppg online and over 200 yds rushing and 200 passing per game. Open with wr screen to Sammy, mix in some runs(tons of motion plays in shotgun wing/flex), then quick safe passes, then rd option, pa pass, motion triple option, and motion pa pass. If you get good at that in practice run it in hurry up vs CPU. It can only be contained, usually not very well.

Can't run with Clemson? You're doing something wrong. I avg 30 rush attempts in a 20 min game. Average 200 rypg. Vs anyone.

One thing I've noticed about this years

Jul 28, 2012, 7:47 AM

game is the WR Mid Screen doesn't work as effectively as it used to, last year I ate defenses alive with it, now I get a ton of incompletions on it.
