When I was a baby they picked up and delivered cloth diapers. Pampers or something similar were around I guess, but the diaper truck was common.

2 stations side by side were constantly in a price war. Remember 15.9 cents as lowest.

but I saw a new reel mower for sale somewhere not that long ago. I think they are preferred for cutting Bermuda, fescue and some ether turf grasses.

Seeing that reel mower reminds me of how my Battalion XO solved a broken

gas lawn mower problem in my Battalion...
We would always assign our extra duty Soldiers (Soldiers who had gotten in trouble and were given extra duty as part of their Article 15 punishment) the task of cutting the unit's grass. We had 4 gas powered push lawn mowers for the task. That is until these misbehaving Soldiers got the bright idea that if the lawnmowers were broke they wouldn't have to cut the grass. So, these SOBs sabotaged the gas mowers (cutting the spark plug wires, cutting/stealing the pull cords, poured water in the gas tank etc...) so they wouldn't work.
Well... my XO got the a.s.s. over it, went out and bought 4 reel mowers and some sling blades. He brought all these new grass cutting implements to the Battalion HQ where he and the CSM commenced to give a block of instruction to the extra duty Soldiers on how to put them into operation. They told all these extra duty Soldiers that since they didn't want to cut grass with gas powered lawnmowers that perhaps they would prefer going "old school". They told these turds that if they broke the reel mowers they would be using scissors next - but one way or another they were going to cut that grass.
I had my XO take the gas lawn mowers to a local repair shop where we got them fixed but for 3 weeks these extra duty Soldiers learned how fun it was to cut grass with a push reel mower. Needless to say - when we got the gas powered mowers back we had no more lawn mower sabotage problems...
