David and his comment about Rice been on the playoff
Oct 7, 2013, 11:48 AM

selection committee.. David is absolutely correct and I admire him for his tough stance.
I am not racist against women, but they have no right to do this unless they are qualified. I am a man love my wife but my wife neither I should be anywhere analyzing football. If you are going to be selecting best teams, you need to know football and understand X and Os. The only job for me on the Clemson team is one of the following: Janitor, water boy, equipment boy, bus driver, etc.. Women can do these jobs too if they want to.
So Heather pick another job. Rice get your tooth fixed and get married because you screwed up enough already and thank you for your services.

Here it is again:
"If you are going to be selecting best teams, you need to know football and understand X and O.."
Like any job, I believe there are job requirements. This is in my humble opinion is one of the requirements.
If Rice or any female can demonstrate this skill, they are welcome to the selection committee. I for one, don't qualify?

That having lady parts precludes someone from having an understanding of football X's and O's.
If not, then the simple question should be, regardless of gender, are they qualified. And then you don't have to be worried about being racist toward women.

Like any job in the world, we should have a "job" description.
What is the job description for someone on the committee? I don't know for sure but I guess you need to understand football somehow. How do you gain this understanding of football? Do you go to some university to get this education or do you play or you learn by coaching? I don't know the answer but I suspect you gain this knowledge by playing or being part of a coaching staff or something like this.
So If I had a daughter and I am coach, and my daughter sat on all my meetings and she understood football like I do, then she qualifies. This remind me with the movie "trouble with the curve" played by Clint Estwood and his daughter(sandra). She knew more about baseball than some of the staff on the braves organization. So she was qualified.

PC should not mean everybody should get to do everything. Rice has been lobbying for NFL commish for a while. She is very bright and needs to stay in academia.

"Having played the sport at an advanced level" I see no reason to think that women are any less able to carry out the requirements of sitting on a selection committee. That said anyone sitting on the selection committee should be knowledgeable about and interested in the sport. I also think their decisions and discussions should be done in as public a forum as possible.

If you don't want Rice on the committee, say it's because she (as an individual) lacks experience. Don't say that women shouldn't be on the committee; say that inexperienced people shouldn't be on the committee. That designation would include a lot of men and about 100% of the people on this board.
The same goes for Heather Dinnich. If you don't like her reporting, feel free to criticize. She is pretty mediocre at her job. But when people's criticisms of her focus on her being a woman, it makes is look like a bunch of narrow-minded idiots.

it isnt that people are narrow minded. she is just so tall minded it gives the appearance from that height that it is narrow. her antics on the logan thomas train show her for the ESPN lackey she is.
The other ACC reporter is much better and more informed.

it's a woman or not, but to be considering someone like Condy Rice is absurd. For years, she was supposedly running national security. There are hundreds if not thousands of people who have been dedicated to covering CFB full-time during that period and some much longer. Who do YOU think would be better qualified?

And Knowledgeable College Football Fans to be on the committee. They all happen to be Alabama season ticket holders. Problem?
I don't think the fact that there is someone out there who may know a little more than you should necessarily disqualify you from the position, as long as you know enough to do the job.
