Georgia buying another championship

College football is out of control.
Speaking on 97.1 FM in Columbus, reporter Dave Biddle claimed that Ohio State missed out on a 5-star recruit because the school was unable to offer him even half of what he was seeking in NIL compensation.
The unnamed player got an offer in the neighborhood of $800,000 per season to play at Georgia, a figure that doesn't even include a reported signing bonus of $1.8 million more on top of that.
Ohio State, Biddle said, could not offer him more than $500,000.
"They didn't get him over $750k," Biddle said on 97.1. "UGA offered the kid $1.8 million to sign and 800k per season. OSU couldn't get him more than 500k."

They’re going to keep buying all these championships in order to impress people…
But what’s going to happen is fewer and fewer people are actually going to be impressed because the whole thing is just stupid.

I'll be glad when fewer and fewer people quit watching so they can get the hint that this is not college football anymore. Tank the ratings. Hey, let's start a petition that says that the fans who watch should get paid also

Don't listen to sport's talk shows. If Georgia or any other school has enough supporters to employ players via NIL, that is perfectly legal in the country. Football has changed and if you don't change with it, you fall behind the pack.

I don’t need sports talk shows to tell me the NIL and transfer portal has ruined college football. You might though

Dabo’s (1) culture, (2) program integrity, (3) stress of education/degree, (4) career preparedness, etc., etc. has become a NON-FACTOR for those 4*/5*, Rivals 100 players.
For a place like Clemson, SC, when UCLA/USC (Los Angeles), Alabama (brand & program, strength of the booster base), Ohio State (booster strength), University of Florida, University of Miami, Michigan, Oregon (Nike), Texas (booster strength), & maybe Oklahoma have so much NIL money opportunities, it seems to be an enormous uphill battle for Clemson to stay in that CFP-elite category.
The TP just adds to the uncertainty.
CDS’ dream of building the “ideal program” that does it the “right way” is gone.
Clemson’s down to the #11 recruiting class this year.
It will be interesting to see what that ranking will be next year. #15, #18?
When does Clemson drop out of the Top 25 in recruiting?
When does CDS simply say, enough is enough, or is he willing to coach at the non-12 category?
Most programs, like Clemson, UNC, Pitt, Iowa, etc., will become normalized to 3*, Rivals 250-300 players, with those players being there to get their education, while getting pounded into oblivion as they play the “varsity” teams with the Rivals 100 players. I guess these 12, or so, ELITE teams will still need some JV teams to fill out their schedule. Maybe Clemson can get some good payouts for playing these teams as Clemson used to pay the SC State, Citadel, Wofford, etc. schools to play that “powder puff slot” in Clemson’s schedule.
Maybe this “normalization” brings back the college game to these other non-12/#25-#100 ranked college teams to restore the order of the original objective of inter-college competition.
What these now non-12 colleges will need is a NEW CHAMPIONSHIP game, just like the FCS teams already have in place. Else, the non-12/non-FCS will essentially just ALWAYS be perennially “out of the picture” for any playoff hopes.
And, I don’t think that this is “coming”. I think we are already THERE.

The NIL the way it is is due to terrible leadership by the NCAA. They put no checks and balances in place,
The rule was made so players could make money in autographs, jersey sales etc but anyone with half a brain new it would come down to funneling money from schools into business to make said player a “ sponsorship” deal.
That was along with the ability to transfer year to year had ruined college athletics

as it turns out, i think, NCAA rules regulating NIL are in fact illegal, in violation of national antitrust laws. so, to the extent i am right, the NCAA had no teeth and this new world order makes college football in compliance with federal rules and regulations. some will say that is good. others may not like it. but until congress changes the laws or the courts reinterpret them, NIL and college football players with freedom to own their own likeness and images is the way the world is.

bad information.
Think - it is coming from an Ohio State site about somebody going to Georgia.
Plus the quoted sources have already come out & said this is not true / this is not what they said.
