It’s simply a misunderstanding. coot speak can be extremely difficult to decipher. I’ll translate for clarification.
coot speak - “When you don’t have the year you want to have, you deal with a lot on the recruiting trail,” Muschamp said.
English translation- When you lose your ever loving mind and predict 9-3 or 10-2 year after year after year and everyone sees you get your teeth kicked in year after year after year. Well, the 17 year olds have questions, so we have to lie extra hard
coot speak- “And about 90 percent of it is not true from some of our lovely competitors.
English translation- in chicken math, 35 > 56 and zero = 90.
coot speak- Our staff did a fantastic job holding things together in house.”
English translation- you would not believe the breathtaking magnitude of the lies we told those 17 year olds, in their living rooms.

In a follow up interview he mentioned App State and UGA as being the school that negative recruited. He said "from some of our lovely competitors" and Clemson is obviously not a competitor but a dominatior.
