Mitch freakin Trubisky???

Is his agent in the mob or what? What a freaking joke if he goes before Deshaun. How many times do they need to miss on QBs like Trubisky every year? How's Logan Thomas doing? 13 starts for Trubisky. That's like playing one good hole of golf and getting rated above someone who tears up the course.

JaMarcus Russell, Brady Quinn, Mark Sanchez, Josh Freeman, Tim Tebow, Jake Locker, Blaine Gabbert, Christian Ponder, Brandon Weedun, EJ Manuel, and Johnny Manziel. All 1st round, can't miss QBs, and all examples of how horrendous the NFL is at evaluating QB talent.
No worries.

Vince Young actually was pretty good his record was like 31-19 and threw a good deep ball. His blowup with fisher was his downfall they never got along and fisher never wanted him there. PS im a titans fan lol

That's a bit of a stretch. For his career he completed

58% of his passes at 6.9 YPA with 46 TDs and 51 INTs. He only averaged about 20 throws a game and less than 150 yards. He wasn't nearly good enough to put an offense on his shoulders. The Titans had a good record for a year or two with him starting because they had an elite defense and a solid running game - much like how Tim Tebow made the playoffs one year with the Broncos despite being terrible. Or how the Broncos won the Super Bowl in 2016 despite Manning and Osweiler being garbage for that matter.

None of those were considered "can't miss"

There were concerns with all of them - some of them less so.
Many of them were consider reaches at the time. GM's get a little QB crazy sometimes. Just takes one GM or owner to fall in love.
Jamarcus did have the best pro day ever. And GM's flipped out. I guess he was maybe the closest can't miss _ GM's love a guy who can throw 80 yards on his knees.

NFL experts often get it very wrong when it comes to evaluating QBs. That's just a fact.

Agree. In the end it is a crapshoot in general. Also, I don't consider any talking head to be an expert. Just like I don't believe analyst or potfolio managers on CNBC are worth a poo. Most are in front of the camera just because they are comfortable in front of the camera.
In the end you just have to do your own research and go with your gut. The draft is like picking stocks. If you follow group think then you are bound to have just average returns at best.

comprised of idiots that can't evaluate talent, or that it's just incredibly difficult to predict which QBs are actually going to succeed in the NFL? I'm guessing it's the latter.

+1. I agree. It's not an exact science. There's no way to know how a qb will handle a completely different game, because that's what the NFL is, a different game. Everything is 100 times faster and everyone is as good as the best college player that who ever faced.
And I know it's hard for people on tnet to accept, but these gm's know a heck of about more about football and evaluating talent than they do.

Hopefully Deshaun goes to a better team than Cleveland and if they are wanting to trade up on their 2nd pick I pray it isn't Deshaun.
I don't believe in the long run if Deshaun goes after Trubisky it will hurt his feelings an it will help his career to go to team that understands he's better than the rest.

Why do you care so much? It's Deshaun's money on the line, not yours. And it's incremental at best. If Deshaun goes later, he goes to a better team. It's not a bad thing. It's not like the university gets some "bonus" if Deshaun is drafted higher sheesh.

Lol ok chief BS 2001, MBA 2003, but that has zero to do with my point. Some people on here are acting as though they are Deshaun's agent and getting a piece of the action. WHO CARES, let the free market system decide.

Put the drink down, no need to be so aggressive; jokes.. I don't really think you wear a jersey or maybe I do... It's a sports forum, sole purpose to talk about your opinion on Clemson sports. No code here, let the people express their opinion and don't click on it if you don't want to read it.
Ok chief bs

Sorry if came across as aggressive, just sick of seeing 40 threads on the first page irate at even the notion (gasp!) that Trubisky or whoever the flavor du jour is might be drafted before our guy.
Not drinking yet... saving that for tomorrow night. Draft is happening right outside my office building! ??

If he goes before DeShaun,it's only because Cleveland wants him( at #12) and Chicago,Buffalo,Jacksonville,San Francisco,or the Jets explore options other than a Quarterback. This has nothing to do with Mitch being better, but like the Heisman fiasco Trubisky is just a more popular pick for the Browns. The real value for DeShaun,in my opinion, would be either Kansas City,or Houston, where he can learn for a year, and will not get killed by an offensive line( in Cleveland) that couldn't protect him.

If he drops it will be to a better team. He may get his feelings hurt but he may also have an even bigger chip on his shoulder and have a better chance to succeed. He will make his money no matter where he gets drafted he performs, just ask Russell Wilson.

I've actually come to a point where I almost prefer Deshaun go to someone outside the Top 10. Yes, seeing him go Top 5 has an "oh cool!" factor to it, but that only lasts about 1 day, and then you realize: Oh ####, he's on the ####### JETS?!
I'd much rather he land in a place like Houston, Phoenix, KC or San Diego (I believe they've got the #6 overall pick, but I think they have the chance to do well).

My gut tells me AZ or HOU will pick him, which are good options, but I feel like KC would be the best option out there.
