My wife does that for a living. I'll show her your post

when I want to get her irate. Everybody wants someone to do stuff like this for free or for little money and it really is a slap in the face of photographers. Something they've worked years on to get good at it. Spent 20k+ on equipment to make sure they get the right shot every single time.
My wife has a policy to not do weddings of extended family members or friends simply because people always argue with her about the price and it just isn't worth the argument, the headache and the hurt feelings for her to do them. People come to her cause they know she'll do a good job, but then they'll cringe when she offers a deal which is way below half of her normal fee.
Quit being a skin flint, buck up the money for a well reviewed photographer and enjoy your day. Or go cheap and have somebody take all your pictures in standard defintion because they don't know how use their camera the right way.

Good for your wife. I'm glad she is good at what she does.
I asked for video help, not a photographer. I have one of those that I am paying plenty of money.
It does not need to cost $4000 for a 5 to 10 minute wedding video.

Congratulations of the upcoming wedding!
FYI, A good ceremony video with multi cameras to catch close ups of bride’s face, groom’s face, parents, grandparents, attendants etc plus editing and music is way more work than taking pictures and the price should reflect that. If you just want one steady wide shot from the balcony with ambient audio then yeah anybody can do that for free, just set up a camera in the back and hit the button, done.
And a “fun” video to document the day behind the scenes and the reception after? Hours and hours and hours of filming and editing. It’s all a lot more work than anyone would think.

I’ve done professional videography and gave up on shooting weddings because of this exact kind of thinking, “video help, not a photographer”. If you want quality video work, you should expect to pay MORE than what you’re paying a photographer. It’s a tremendous difference in the number of hours and people involved to do video vs stills. The editing room can be a nightmare of a time sink.
On the other hand, if you’re just looking for 10-15 minutes of unedited footage from one camera in the back of the chapel, you don’t need a professional at all. Just have someone trusted stick an iPhone on a tripod and let it roll.

I don't get why it seems unreasonable to hire a professional to take the video versus asking a family or friend to do it who doesn't know what the heck they are doing. I don't want someone to spend a zillion hours editing anything. I just want a good shot/picture.
Usually when someone asks what can be done for less it's because of a legitimate desire for something different than what is quoted or listed.

Shoeless doesn't do Clemson highlights anymore, but he does weddings! Worth a look at an old t-net legend.

I'm a small filmmaker at my school. Just "two-bit" but we're eager and learning fast. We do documentaries and stories on people at the school - sort of like a journalistic newsreel. The whole school looks at 'em. I use one or two students as the film editors cause they know how to handle the digital stuff and pasting of clips, music, words, etc. Want to see any of our work? I can send you links if you're serious. They're about 2-5 mins, some serious, some comedy.

I took my daughter to the natty in SF. I took 2 cameras to document this trip and then I made an 8 minute video with music. After going through about an hour of raw video from 2 camera sources, downloading this to my computer and editing, I spent about 8 hours for the 8 minute video and that was just editing and not including time behind the camera. It’s time consuming. Investment in equipment, giving up a weekend with the family. ..... Good luck. Just trying to let you know it’s a lot of work to ask of someone.
