A few years ago I was mt biking pisgah on Black Friday (as I often do to avoid people) and I came upon a gruesome scene.

Two women were biking and one had crashed, and her ankle was nasty looking. They didn’t have any cell service (which is common on some parts of the trails) and I do not carry a cell phone biking because…I am a MAN.

I was going to fabricate a make-shift splint, and I asked if they had any thing that I could use as a wrap. The lady pulled out a long sleeved t-shirt from her back pack and it had a big “Media Matters” logo plastered across it.

I stopped at that point, and told them how to make a splint (but I knew they couldn’t); and that I would ride back to the parking lot (about 10 min away as I had just started riding), and call someone for them.

I returned to my bike, and had a great day of riding. I got back to the parking lot a few hours later and saw a hybrid SUV still in the lot with some NEA stickers all over it; figured it was theirs. I had some other calls to make, so I never got around to calling someone for them.

I’m sure they were fine.
