he cannot transfer to another NCAA institution and be eligible to play.
You can only play in games at two schools. You can be on the team at a few schools, but cannot play in games at more than two schools. At least that was the rule when I was around.

I don't believe that's a rule, at least not any more. I know Cam Newton played as a freshman at Florida in 5 games, then he played at Blinn College for a year before playing for Auburn. I can name a few other cases of this as well.

You can go to JUCO (like Cam), but not...

play at more than 2 NCAA schools. You can go to NAIA and play, but not to a 3rd NCAA school.
Crowell is at a NCAA school so his eligibility to transfer should be gone.
It may not be a rule any longer, but Im guessing it still is.
