Linthicum, likely competing to start or def 2nd string. But he was hyped with Bresee and actually came in as 4*. Most likely 2nd string this year.

Ryan Linthicum, I would think he might be second behind Putnam but no clue. Im hoping he is a late bloomer but who knows.

in the country, and he can't get on the field? This casts sirius doubt on the ratings system that was in play.

Saying your the #1 Center in the country is a little like saying your the tallest midget in the room. If RL was a great lineman in HS he would have been a tackle. Very few that come in as centers make a big splash although Kyle Young would be the exception. Our best in recent memory would be Curtis Whitley and Jeff Bostic and although both were very short, I believe both played guard in High School. Stood eyeball to eye ball with both (Curtis actually threatened me when I asked about coach Hat). Curtis was exactly my height (6'1") except he was wearing cowboy boots to get there. Neck was bigger than my legs. Was introduced to Bostic at Macs Drive in and said your kidding. A very soft 245-250 and maybe 6'1. Only the best ever to play at Clemson and had 3 World Championships starting as a dominant center for the Redskins. Obviously a whole lot of things besides stature and size that make a successful center.

for when you would expect an OL to really contribute. There are a few exceptions but usually it has to be a perfect storm for the opportunity to present itself and the size, strength. athletic ability, and football intellect to intersect. Plus if you are a center, you are also most of the time the one that makes the line calls so it’s not typically a spot you plug a FR. If you are, you are usually doomed.

Ryan Linthicum. He wasn't a 5-star

4* according to ESPN and Rivals, 3* according to 247. He redshirted in 2021 and played in 3 games in 2022. I expect him to play more this year, but Will Putnam (the guy ahead of him at center) is a 3-year starter and was actually ranked slightly higher than Linthicum as a recruit.
Putnam
National top 120 player and four-star recruit by three services … ranked No. 80 overall player in the nation by 247Sports, third-best offensive guard in the nation and 11th-best overall player in Florida … Rivals.com ranked Putnam as its No. 106 overall player, No. 7 offensive guard and No. 14 player in Florida … ESPN.com listed him as No. 116 overall player, No. 5 offensive guard and No. 15 player in Florida
Linthicum
Ranked as the No. 120 overall player in the nation by Rivals.com, which listed him as the best center in the nation and the fifth-best player from Maryland … 247Sports ranked him as the eighth-best center in the nation and 21st-best player from Maryland … ESPN.com ranked him among its top 300 prospects nationally as well as the fourth-best center in the nation and 14th-best player from Maryland
