He didn't move permanently. He is in London working on a new album, and playing some shows while he's there. But other than being a gamecock alumni, why "good riddance"?

I think Rucker has sometimes made disparaging comments and/or mean tweets about Clemson and as such has made many a Clemson fan cry.
And nobody likes to cry and have the sads. I believe this is the cause of the “good riddance”comment.

It is not so much that he is an alumnus; I have several good friends who are alumni/fans. I really can’t begrudge anyone for the team they pull for. But DR goes way beyond that. He takes advantage to his access to media to regularly take public shots at Clemson. Why not use that access to support you own school rather than go out of your way to bash another? Not good marketing, either, alienating half of his potential fan base in his home state.
I liken it to the celebs who use the microphone to spout their political views. Just make your movie or sing your song. I don’t care what you think.
Thing is, I like some of his music. He has not achieved “ignore” status yet, like some other entertainers have. He would be really hard to ignore in SC. Now I shouldn’t need to.
I am sure there are some public figures who you just don’t like. He is one of my main ones. Sorry if that offends your sensibilities.
