Are you under the assumption that everyone, institutions and retail, is going to liquidate their positions on the same day at the same time? No, the selloff continues today, driven by building recession fears, the statement this morning about not negotiating with the EU on tariffs, and concern about Wednesday’s CPI.

You should buy yourself a subscription to the WSJ.

took us all the way to 2013 to get back to that level. So that really stunk.

2022 was no picnic either. Lost around 23% halfway into that year and that took all the way to Dec of 2023 to recover to that previous all time high.

5500 pts on the S&P will be about a 10% correction. That is not fun for anybody. If the resistance doesn’t hold 5500 and we close below that this week based on CPI and PPI, then we are in for a stagflation type discussion.

In the meantime cull your losses and set yourself up to buy on the rebound. Whenever that may be.

We’ve got to get past the fear and headline part that’s driving this one so far. The markets hate uncertainty. Trump has been a belly full of that to date. He has flip flopped on tariffs, hopefully these are ‘war’ bluffs to get people that don’t want to talk, well…talking. Solidifying our trade policies can’t happen fast enough imo.

A couple key indicators are still troubling. Low demand and high prices persist. The ‘Fear and Greed’ index is at an extreme fear level of 15 or so.

A government shutdown looms. We will know a lot more after Wed/Thus. as far as some key economic indicators go.

As to the 'tariffs' situation, that's going to a reciprocal status on 4/2.

What 'deals' come out of it is still up in the air, obviously. However, it will establish somewhat of a foundation going forward.

I agree as to the flip-flopping... It still a matter of where the big investment firms decide to park their money. It's not up to "us". Never is.
