Elton John ticket prices & a concert I'd pay big $ to see...

lil'APMette wanted to go see Elton John. APM is willing to go, but LAWD the prices. We're talking 4 figures for nosebleeds in DC.
Ain't payin' that. Sorry Rocket Man.
But that got me thinking. What, if any, concert would I pay 4 figures to see?
I came up with one.
I'd pay a grand to see Oasis. IF the brothers Gallagher were behaving themselves relatively well.
Don't @ me. Dem boyz had some tunes.

yuuuge concerts...Stones and Floyd @ Death Valley. Stones were freakin' awesome, Rogerless Floyd was ahhite. The Who 25yr reunion...still one of the best concerts I've seen. Lotso Dead shows between '89 and '94...it was cool, man.
Never paid near a grand to see any of them. If we're resurrecting Bonzo, can we de-old the rest of the lads back to their prime? I'd pay a grand to see Zep in their prime.

Yeah, I know, everyone here saw them in the Valley for cheap but Greenr was just a young lad of age 12.
I think that would be my biggest draw. I'd pay a decent amount to see Bobby, Mickey, Phil, and Billy play together again.

#### I’m getting old.
Regardless, those lads put one great show. Also saw a few fights in the crowd and other fun festival things.
Good luck scoring value priced Elton John tix.
He’s been to Chicago several times during his farewell tour. Each time I couldn’t pull the trigger either.

especially in their current configuration. Favorites of mine I never got to see include Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and The Who, but they either don't exist anymore or key members are dead, so it wouldn't be the same. I saw plenty of great concerts for $12.00 or less, so 4 figures is absurd in my mind, even if I could afford it.

and the Ramones, all in the same show, for $8.00. I saw Santana, The Doobie Bros, Atlanta Rhythm Section, The Cars, Mother's Finest, and The Dixie Dregs all in the same show for $11.00. Elton John and Billy Joel at Clemson I'm pretty sure was $30.00. I even saw Rush in 2011 for $75.00? So I can't get my head around hundreds or thousands.

One thing about Tom was he kept making great music. That's not easy to do. That makes going to see someone in concert so much more enjoyable when they are producing new and fresh music. Guys who had hits in the 70s and 80s that you heard played into the ground a million times, but haven't really done anything since are good(not great) to see once.
Red Hot Chili Peppers is a band I would love to see that I have not seen. That would probably be at the top of my list. We're seeing The Black Keys soon and they are one that I wanted to see.

She's paying for room and board and the tickets up front so as much as I hate ATL I will go. I think it's a waste to take a 70 yr old to see a concert put on by another 70 yr old. I'm going to get to spend time with one of my kids.
If the tickets are a grand each, I might ask if she wouldn't rather just have dinner and a movie or something. No one is worth spending a G to see.
BTW, Elton John is one of my all time favorites but a thousand dollars?

If you have a PS4 and buy GT7 I think we can race online. I've been at this since Christmas, I've built a garage of about 225+ cars (well over 100 million credits) and have gold on all license except the last license test but I have silver on most of them. I've beaten all the races and even all the challenges included in the updates except one.
I can't drift and have no interest in learning so I have to settle for silver in those drift trials. No, I didn't watch any of the Fast and Furious movies.
Spa is not my favorite track. I had to race it at night against equally powered cars in the rain. I beat it with Porsche's Living Legend 917 which is a virtual reproduction of some older model. No, it wasn't a fair fight. The computer can't drive when the road is wet. It's way too conservative and applies brakes gradually rather than tapping them intermittently. It sounds good on paper but in actuality the machine more respects the speed of the car on a slick road when the brake is tapped.
Spa wasn't a prominent track on the previous versions of GT.
I do not know the qualifications required to race online. I'm sure you'd need a PS4 or 5 and GT7 and I'm guessing you'd need to pass all the (challenges) presented in the licensing center. Maybe not but you'd have to buy at least one car.
Imo, Sarth, which has been renamed is my favorite track on this version of GT because you can run the 24 hour race in 30 minutes. It's always in the light of day and the rain shows up in 7 or 8 of every 10 times you race it. First place pays 550K credits with a bonus of 50% if you don't passs cars when the yellow flag is out. That's where I got all the money to buy most of those cars. IDK if I can give cars away online but if so I will furnish you any car you want from my garage.
As I said before, there is no 'Rookie,' level on these tracks. The fans have complained that the computer runs tracks too perfectly to beat. I'm not one of them though solving some challenges took me a lot of precious time.
If you feel froggy, jump! lol

Sarthe is better known as LeMans…..you should crush everyone with a 917/956/962. With the 250+mph top speed, you can leave everyone for dead on the Mulsanne Straight.

The 24 Hours of Le Mans track has several races on GT7.
The one which has dark and rain is a higher Power Points race. I think it's 800 or less. The 7 lap race with just rain has a 700 PP qualification so I use the Ford LM GT which can be reduced to below that.
On long tracks I set most cars up to max speed for the longest straight by gearing them down. With a fully adjustable transmission you can set the ratio of each gear including the output shaft. Usually, dallying around with those will work unless you're in a race which includes a long track and several laps. At that point fuel consumption comes into play.
Figuring out whether you can finish faster without a pit stop will win some races, Toyko, so the car might not have the power to keep up with the top of the field but the time saved (40-50+ seconds) might put you across the finish line first. There are many advanced races which have steep penalties for shorting the track or touching a wall. I reckon they don't like paint on their walls?
GT7 offers a weather map on the HUD. Some races will have rain coming so you have to pit to get correct tires, find a balance between that and other considerations.
I might have an extra PS4 laying around somewhere. I know we had a few and I choose to keep only the one which first came out, it had a 20g HDD in it.

I dropped the ball on understanding your post.

[ in reply to I do Forza and F1 2022 on Xbox primarily. ] |

You're talking about that straight when the chicanes are omitted. I remember doing that race a couple times but all the advanced races includes both chicanes. The high dollar race is a GR4 class race. There's no way to make that LL a GR4 class race. Even with power restricte(o)rs on their lowest settings and a 200 lb ballast it's way over the power limit to enter that field. I even tried it with road tires to get the power level down to spec but that's a waste of a good car and gas.
I use the Ford LM which out curves and out top ends the other cars if set up and handled correctly. There's more than one way to win that race with the LM using different setups. Lower gears in 3 and 4th for curves with the exact final gear to fully accelerate on the longest straight using max fuel ratio constantly will get you around the track a bit quicker than the other entries but you'll have to pit twice, every three laps.
With a bit of patents you can pit once and pass the field as they pit on lap 6. IF the rain shows up your pit planning goes to carp and you have to adjust fuel consumption and pit strategy. Every time you enter the race you're entering what appears to be a new version of Circuit des 24 Heures du Mans.

They added the chicanes in the late 80’s/early 90’s after multiple deaths on the straight. Super fun though to race in classic format, and on Forza, if you have the track limits turned off you can blow through the chicanes, stadium-truck style.
If they have the full Nurburgring on GT7, the final straight on that track is the next best thing.

It's been a long time since I ran that straight without the chicanes but I can see how an F1 could be geared to fly on it.
I guessed the straight without the chicanes was no more than a GT feature. I don't keep up with the real racing world. I've watched a few races on the Monaco track because it was one of the final license test and had to be won in an F1 car. It is all about the curves. Hurry up so you can hit the brakes. It was a nightmare to try and handle an F1 class car on a track like that.
I have one F1 in the garage, game of course, and have not had on the track. It's an old MB like 1988 model I think. I paid 9 mil credits for it so I could beat Willow Springs Neo-classic meet.
It will be the first F1 I've raced on GT7 and I'm looking forward but I spend too much time making money to buy every new 'Old car,' that is listed.

bringing back the deceased isn't a fair or realistic answer.
I am thinking hard about going to see Iron Maiden in Greensboro in October. Prices nowhere near $1K. Probably the "still-active" band/artist I've never seen that I'd pay the most to see today. They've always eluded me and my schedule, as they don't come to the area that often.
This may be my last chance (47th Anniversary Tour). But I'm sure they'll make 50.
