Just got power

28

Sep 29, 2024, 9:08 PM

We live in a small neighborhood between Easley and Pelzer and Powdersville. Just got power about 8:00. Had been off since 6:30 AM Friday. From what we were hearing we really didn’t expect it to come back on until maybe as late as Friday. Still a lot of downed trees to clean up but at least we can now come inside to cool aC and warm showers. Prayers for all those still without and hoping they get theirs back soon. And that everyone stays safe while working to clean up.

We are still hearing that it will be no sooner than Friday

Between my house and Greenwood there’s so many power poles broken and no crews working in the area. Many trees still blocking one lane. Lines at gas stations half mile long in both directions. Hate to see the road at the river, but no hunting for a while with processors without power. Got to trash 2 freezers tomorrow

Our power company sent notice about the number of down poles, plus said it takes about 4x longer to replace a pole than to repair lines on an intact pole.

I checked my freezer when the power came on and some of the stuff on top like chicken breasts and tater tots I had moved there from the kitchen freezer were soft. All of the meat packages below the top layer were still frozen. The cup of water I keep in there with a quarter on top still had a small piece of ice in it. I’ll end up throwing out some but not all. I haven’t checked on the processor I use in Jonesville but the guy that lives next to our club property in Pacolet said it was pretty bad but provided no details. I’ll go check all that out after I get these trees out of my yard. Be safe, my friend.

Yep I'm in the hodges area and haven't seen the first crew working. I'm not holding my breath

I am very sorry to hear that.

Are you with Duke?

My mom is in Greenwood and with Greenwood CPW, and she has power.

Going without power is a bummer, even for a few hours much less a few days.

Reminds me of 35 years ago in the Low Country. We went two and half weeks without power.

Prayers from the Lowcountry. We understand and wouldn't wish it on anyone***

Have relatives down that way and they are without power. Dad finally went and got him a motel. The power company was unsure of how many days it would take to get them back up.
Glad they got you up and running Rhett.

Thanks. We were planning to go to my Mother -in-law’s in GA tomorrow for one night just to get a warm shower and wash some clothes. Think we may still go to get a change of scenery. Going to spend all day today working on the trees in the yard.

I live in the Pendleton area and we got power back yesterday afternoon. 7 trees down on our property but no damage to house or barn. Just damage to fences , etc. When we got tv back we watched the destruction in western NC, etc. I’m feeling extremely blessed this morning yet heart broken for others.

So no water. Duke saying maybe Friday for this road. I’m out a bit in Spartanburg so not unexpected. 8 trees on the power lines within 1/4 mile.

My parents in the north lake section of Anderson still don’t have power. I think some neighborhoods have power disconnected from the rest of town due to downed lines

Which direction from Spartanburg? Trying to get a little info on how the area around Pacolet/Jonesville fared.

We had well water where we lived from 2003-2019. I loved not having chlorine in the water but power outages were a challenge especially with kids in the house. Amazing how we take flushing toilets for granted. Hope they get you going soon.

Gray court area , roughly 50 hard wood trees down but none in the house thankfully. 2 barns have tress on them but no major damage . Have water but won’t have power for minimum another week .

I'm out-of-town right now, but wife said power went out about 7AM that Friday morning (we live out beyond Falcon's Lair in Camp Oak area). Later she got the generator going to keep freezers running and prepared to watch the game Saturday night. She was seeing "5 days or more" from Blue Ridge Co-op, but about 5PM Saturday, she got power back! Amazing, because last time there was a big storm and lots of outages, we were close to the being the very last house that got turned back on.

So about a day and a half for us. And despite a lot of downed trees on the property almost nothing damaged except boat tarp and plastic greenhouse. So we're pretty happy about that. No internet still, though, she says.

Wife's brother and some cousins came by to help deal with some of the downed trees. Neighbor helped too. Shout out to Rich, Drew, Max, and Cody! Thanks for helping out! Although I think brother had ulterior motive...it's his boat that got de-tarped.

Other cousin in greenville still has no power and started cooking everything in her freezer out on the grill. before it goes bad.

We live in Leesville. Been out of power since about 3am Friday morning.
Dominion posted an update last night saying they don’t anticipate getting it back on until late Thursday night unfortunately.

Power was restored at our place late Saturday afternoon...

Sep 30, 2024, 10:19 AM

While being without power and cell service for a couple of days was a royal pain, it pales in comparison to the significant property damage many others across Florida, Georgia, and the Western Carolina region sustained. Still thousands in the upstate without power. Prayer for all who were and are still being impacted. Comparatively speaking, our issues, all of which were just minor inconveniences, were small potatoes.

No power in Pineland. The farm/ nursery I manage is a total wreck. It reminds me of Matthew.

On a side note, I had no worry of college football Saturday afternoon. But the Good Lord worked out some timing. The local BBQ place was open. I walked in with the family , and one of the owners said I could watch the game while we feasted on chicken, bbq, etc. There was no volume, but it was nice to watch until halftime.
