you? For an old fart like me, I'd say the 90s. It seems like 9-11 broke something in this country. That's when bizarro conspiracy theories went from obscure, late night, Des Moines AM radio to more mainstream. There had always been the JFK & moon landing stuff. And whatever. But 9-11 seemed to tap in into something kinda weird. I don't know, just thinking out loud here. Mods, feel free to delete if not appropriate .

I think most people agree that the "old world" ended in the dark occult ritual of 9-11-2001.

But i would say the internet itself is the greatest military weapon ever created, and it is a weapon.

especially early on. Getting actual news, 24/7 with reporters on the ground where the news is happening, was great. The reporting was about as unbiased as it gets, and the objective was to deliver the news. Even their political programming made an honest attempt to present all sides fairly (remember "Crossfire"?). By the time FOX figured out they could get more viewers by providing a politically biased slant to the news aimed at a target audience, and became infotainment, and CNN, under Time-Warner, decided to do the same, it all started going to shid.

We were living on the side of an active volcano in Sicily. It was old world European and people interacted on a very personal level in their own little towns. They avoided going down into the big city of Catania and they absolutely preferred to patronize all the mom and pop business in their villages. I lived in one of those villages.

The internet was new and I was actually grateful for it because I could find the Clemson broadcast streamed on the internet. But Jim Phillips was getting old and he sometimes failed to give you essential details.

Anyhoo…..life was simple up there on the mountain ( Etna ). You ate well, you drank fine wine all the time and you talked to people.

I've had several personal crises that rocked my world, but yeah, I'd say 1998-2001 changed me in big ways. New to the Internet and spending hours daily on it, into the night, reading everything, looking at everything. Enlightening and frightening all at the same time.

Morally there was some kind of shift around mid 1990s and continuing for 20 years where wrong became right and right became wrong. It's still here largely, but you do see some backlash now and a whiff of a return to normalcy...that I don't think will ever fully materialize.

You are right about one thing.......everything is upside down, backwards and all messed up. However, I think it started way back with the Great Society Programs of LBJ. At that point in history, over 70% of kids were raised in 2 parent households, virtually everyone was of the same religion, the Christian Work Ethic was the norm, the news media was patriotic and believable, teachers were our heroes, as were cops.It all began to change the day Madeline Murray O'hare and her Commie crew from Austin had prayer removed from schools and the revolutionaries and hippies sprang up on college campuses everywhere and went on to become our political leaders. They changed our world and not for the better. The society we see and live in today all came out of the 60's revolution.
