Losing on portal arms

Ugly side of the game really showing ($ talks). UGA now has 15 of the top 250 players in the portal this year. Utterly ridiculous. We’re handcuffing EB in all honesty with the allotment baseball is getting versus basketball. I know this will be unpopular but I’d take 3-4% of our total allotment from basketball and give it to baseball. If we could just get the NIL to fund a couple proven arms on the bump we’d be cooking. But right now it hurts watching all the best portal arms dwindle down and commit elsewhere. Jimmy Bellanger is coaching for his job this year is all I’m gonna say

Belanger should be on the hot seat this year, as pitching has cycled down since he has gotten here. He's not being done any favors with portaling.

It doesn't look good now, but wait and see with the new scholarship limit, nil, and revenue sharing. It may take time. It's also hard when the landscape is turned upside down every few years. So for now, pay for play is the only factor.

Don't worry, UGA will blow it. They had a top three portal class last year too.

Yeah the fact the NCAA changes key rules basically every year is honestly infuriating. Such a horribly ran organization. But i agree the full scholarships will hopefully give a nice boost, bc who wouldn’t want to play for EB? Only issue I have is just like you said, bellanger is not exactly inspiring confidence among prospect arms, so why come here if they aren’t developed?

But at some point when the college landscape starts to look like Clemson (haves) vs PC (have nots) every game, I’ll pass. I’d prefer to watch more competitive teams comprised of lesser talent. So if the outcomes will always be about the spend from here on out, I’m just caring a little less for the product.

i would take 100% of our allotment to basketball and give it to baseball.

Any dollar spent on basketball while Brad is here is just a waste of a dollar.

I’m biased as a baseball junkie but shoot me too. Realistically maybe move basketball and baseball to like maybe 8% and 6% and then leave the rest to softball and women’s bball.

From what I can find football is getting 75% of the 20.5 million the athletic department can give in NIL, men’s bball 15% and women’s bball 5%. So assume baseball, softball, and whatever else has to divide the rest. But remember that doesn’t account for NIL deals with outside entities

2025 student level member flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

So you don't know if Jawja is spending more to pay baseball players than us

You're estimating 5% to all other sports. The SEC cares a whole lot about Softball and Jawja cares about whole lot about gymnastics. You don't how much they're doing out to them.

Correct, but that doesn’t include outside entities. Realistically you have to think if Georgia is getting that many big transfers in baseball, they have committed entities/groups/businesses that are giving NIL deals to all those guys. I could be wrong but we just dont have that commitment to the baseball program donor wise from everything I’ve read.

You know what? This really sucks , we not only get our ##### handed to us in football recruiting because of $$, we are getting the same thing done to us in baseball... Is this the way it will always be, are we going to always get beat in the $$ portal, are we not able to fund our teams like UGA , Miami , Texas? I swear I hate this, I'm a big time Clemson man and it sucks that we just cannot compete $$.... We have to always do more with less in Football šŸˆ, basketball šŸ€, now baseball ⚾.. God bless us Clemson family
Go Tigers!! šŸ’ŖšŸ’Ŗ

"we not only get our ##### handed to us in football recruiting"

This is an odd point of view for a Clemson fan. Clemson is an
historically small school in a poor state and yet we compete with the biggest
and best programs playing football in the whole country. Under Dabo we have
a winning record vs the SEC and Big 10. Our 3 Natty's in my lifetime surpasses
that of most everyone in the sport. Over the last 44 years and the last much
maligned four years we have been better on the field of play of nearly
everyone else. We have an elite, fantastically successful program.

And yet many in our fan base have a largely negative viewpoint of who we are.

Go Tigers!!

If there's limited money give it to who can be successful. I personally rather see baseball and softball get the money over basketball.
Baseball and softball have a proven track record compared to basketball.
