I believe that Tony's success at Virginia, will depend mostly on how invested Virginia is willing to be with their FB program, and how much they are willing to spend to give Tony the same advantages like Clemson has done with Dabo, that has allowed him to compete with any school with the bling that attracts the attention of the elite FB recruits. Virginia will have to do the same for Tony to show that Va is fully invested in their FB program. If they're not willing to do that at Va, Tony will just be another coach that failed to get Virginia FB competing at the top with the other FB schools, and it will be bc Virginia failed at being fully invested in their FB program.
Fact, the ACC is one of the hardest conferences to build successful FB programs, and it has been bc Tobacco road has always thrown so much money at their basketball programs, and allowing their FB programs to suffer from it for so long, that the ACC is more known as being a basketball conference, and the best of the best FB recruits want to be in a FB conference. And that is why the SEC has way more of the best FB talent than any other conference, IMHO, Dabo and Clemson still suffers in FB recruiting bc the ACC is well known as a basketball conference!!!
I believe that Dabo would recruit a lot more of the 5 star talent if Clemson was in a FB conference like the SEC. Kids that FB is their first choice, has been brain washed that their best chances of playing in the NFL, will be if the go to the SEC to play. How many times have we heard recruits say, the SEC is the best FB conference, and they will only sign with a SEC school for their college career. We hear it a lot, hopefully one of Dabo's plans is to help build the ACC into a FB conference!!!

Geez. 40,000 in moving expenses. Is it that much these days? You can't swing Mayflower or United Van Lines on 4 mil a year? LOL. Thank goodness for U-Haul when I moved.

I know this is all tongue in cheek, but..
The bulk is probably closing costs on his new home. Guessing the $/SF is a little higher in Charlottesville

So only about twice what he was making at Clemson. Dang, some people. Actually, I wish I could suddenly make twice what I'm making and get a six figure signing bonus.

It’s the market. Most coaches would stay in same profession for 1/15 the pay. Lots of watching film, recruiting, instructing, and game planning. But hats off to him!

Coaching ranks so far, Tony Elliot is the first one who has been completely, start to finish, groomed by Dabo Swinney. If the Clemson Culture is to be established at any offshoot school, it will be at Virginia under Coach Elliot. It will be a fascinating journey to watch unfold.
I don't count Chad Morris, because he didn't hang around long enough to truly absorb it all. He took "the first bus he could get out of town" if you will.
Brent Venables was already an established success when he came to Clemson. But, he too fully immersed himself in Dabo's culture, and in the process became what few coaches achieve anywhere, beloved. I don't think there really was another job not named Oklahoma that he would have left here for.
