because I have the eyes of a mid 50 year old that has read a lot, meaning I can't read small print paperback type unless it is an arm length away, and then straining

Kindle lets me adjust to Reader's Digest Large Print Edition size

honestly do most leisure reading by pool or beach, so have sunglasses on already. Do have reading glasses at office for journals etc

Kindle Fire is great. With the additional folding cover I can prop it on my lap or pillow and just touch the screen to flip the page. Backlighting and text sizing is easy adjust. I get my monies worth with Kindle Unlimited and not looking for the books I want. There are some top-notch authors available.

I travel a lot and read before falling asleep. Also, wake up with crazy dreams and it's good to be able to open the Kindle and refocus and fall back asleep. No lighting problems and don't have to turn of device, just close the cover and reopen it to start again. Charge lasts for days. I have crates of books in the warehouse if anyone is interested. I'll take the Kindle, thanks.
