I'm grateful I don't linger over losses anymore
Nov 6, 2022, 6:02 AM

They don't keep me up at night, make me angry. Oh, I care. Last night was a mess. I hollered at the TV more last night than at any point this year. But, it's over, and that's a good thing.
This morning I rose at 4:00 AM to preach to a church in the Philippines, 13 hour time difference as they stay on standard time. 9 souls received Jesus! We may have lost, but they no longer are.
Perspective matters

My Friend, after 58 seasons of Clemson football and

75 years of life, I learned to get over a heck of a lot of things a long, long time ago, especially those of which I have little or no control.
Part of that includes the fact that despite any angst, there is absolutely nothing I can do to change the "given."
Best wishes to you.

So you’ve given up like the team. I get it, you’re an older retired person that has quit caring so much about Clemson. I’m in my 40’s and peaking so excuse me for still wanting to win. Theoretically I have many years of Clemson football left to watch and I would rather it be the Championship level I’ve grown accustomed to, not the Tommy West garbage you endured

Not obsessing over football is hardly giving up
Nov 6, 2022, 6:31 AM

I'm hardly retired. I preach at the church I pastor in 4 1/2 hours. Then we go out into the neighborhood, and pray later today.
I have retired from obsessing over things that in the grand scheme of things matter very little. If you're in your 40's, you're really late to the party in realizing that

Well you are straw manning this by using the word “obsessing”. I’m not sure anyone on here is obsessed with football, this is just a football forum not a prayer forum so you’re more likely to encounter football and the current state of affairs being discussed. Have fun today and I hope it all works out for you

How special is that and Know he was proud of you!
Yep, you've been busy already today saving Souls while Dabo will be trying to save a group young men from getting down on themselves while helping them be better football players.
Go TiGERS!

If you cannot see the obsession with football here

and many other things in this world, you're not seeing clearly. Look, I love football. But a broad perspective on life reveals to me it matters little, in life. I have a young man who lost his grandmother and father in the last month, and now his 2 month old son is on life support in the hospital. That matters. A mother with a cocaine addicted daughter. That matters. A father with a drinking problem that's destroying his family. That matters. A father whose wife was killed in an auto accident in the spring trying to raise two kids alone while working full time. That matters.
When compared to Clemson winning or losing a football game, well, it just pales in comparison.

It’s a football forum. It would be like me going to Mossy Oak outdoors and accusing everyone of being obsessed with hunting because it’s all they talk about. You came across as if you were condemning bad behavior and like we don’t know people are dying in Ukraine. I get your point, thank you for doing what you do, I don’t wish to argue with you about it anymore

Things like football, hunting, fishing
Nov 6, 2022, 7:38 AM
|
|
I love to fish, should be an escape. Unless it's for survival. If we're honest with ourselves, we all at times have priorities that are out of whack. Obsess over trivial things. The question is, do we realize when we're doing that and correct things.
It is a football board. Also a board where many other things are discussed. Also a board where many of the same people ad nauseum harp on the same things over, and over, and over, and over.

Where in that did you get the idea that he is giving up

on the team ? From your response it seems like you are the one feeling like giving up when our team falls from perfection on the "W" side of the record. Good thing you aren't a Bama fan this year- they are now less perfect than the Tigers.
Oh. and where did you get the idea the team has given up? You sound like the ND announcers last night who made those kinds of comments about our team while they were still playing their hearts out. They had not given up at all- I guess you believe what those guys were saying?

Ok, you wanna stay on a championship level….

So what exactly are you going to do to stay there?
How many extra sprints you gonna run? How many more hours you gonna study film? How many millions are you going to donate? What are YOU going to do to stay at a championship level?
Cause fretting over it and whining on a message board is not going to help the situation one little iota.

Souls saved is by far the best news we can hear. I am trying to get where you are by not caring as much about a loss but I am not there yet. I knew this team was not ready for prime time all year and it finally got us last night.

Alot had to happen to me personally that made me realize, while I love Clemson and literally hate to see a game like last night, there are far more important things in life

It's actually almost easier to swallow a loss like this.

There is no "officials took this game from us", or "we shot ourselves in the foot". We DID shoot ourselves in the foot a couple times, but Notre Dame just flat out dominated the lines of scrimmage, just like Dabo owned. It was their night. If that same Notre Dame team shows up the rest of the year, they finish the regular season at 9-3. But, that remains to be seen. Butt, no matter what, nobody will ever be able to take last night away from them.

I feel the same way, and I’m only 39. Sure, i yelled at the TV, and the horrendous play, but as soon as the game was over, i went on to Luther things and got a good nights sleep. Yes I’ve got critiques, but Dabo’s not listening to me and I don’t have the power to make any changes, so just have to accept it and move on. Hope to see better, but I’ve got more important things like my 7 y/o’s birthday party today.

You are absolutely right. This is a disappointment. not a tragedy or real-life situation people are dealing with. We are blessed to lament over a game.
