In order to make the NIT next year, what facilities upgrades

Mar 14, 2022, 10:46 AM

do we need to make and how much NIL funding do we need to come up with and how much of a pay raise do we need to give our basketball coaching staff? Should we move the campus to a more urban setting because only football, soccer and softball(and now baseball?) players want to enjoy the beautiful campus we have now?

Are there any other aspects of the program that we need to address to ensure that we make the NIT next year?

We need education for fans who think 110 years of history does not matter and that simply cycling through coaches which has failed for better basketball programs like NCSU, WF and Pitt will also not work at Clemson.

we have discovered that keeping one coach for 12 years regardless of performance will also not work at Clemson.

ACC has been, which has been the general direction of the league for several years. I wish we could have taken advantage of the opportunities, but alas we could not.

He's had the greatest facilities, support and opportunity of any coach in Clemson basketball history.

I know you have a half empty quiver of excuses to fire off explaining why we can't expect to be any better than we are, but after 12 years, we know what we have and it's time to take a shot at improving the program before everyone becomes "a casual fan." As you and Judge Keller should understand by now, you can't browbeat the fans into submission, you have to provide a worthy product for their attention.

Everybody SHOULD understand that by now.

If your mom was mean to you, that doesn't mean you have to cry every time a woman talks to you or become a serial killer. You can say you know what, that sucked, now I choose better.

Something along those lines?
I think you’re right. That could really stir up some more interest in the program.

We also need an education for fans who think that the 110 year history is more important than the 30 year history.

I think comparisons to our recent coaches are more relevant than to when we were shooting underhanded into fruit baskets.

If Gonzaga can be built into a power than anything can happen. Programs cycle through coaches till they find the right one. Im not 100% sure why you are afraid of a reality where Brownell is not the HC of the program but if we are resigned to mediocrity with him we might as well just fold the program. Settling for meh because you are scared of bad is just plain dumb in my opinion.

Oh please educate us , wise one! Perhaps you should shoot Neff your phone number so he can call you and get some tips.

So I guess your plan is to keep Brownell until he decides to retire, and then go look for a coach who can do more than finish 84th in the nation his 12th year?

Exactly, …who in their right mind in 2010 would’ve thought that in the next decade we would play in four national championship games win two of them, and make six street playoffs, I can tell you nobody in their right mind would’ve thought that.

These losers who were stuck in the past and keep saying “oh well Clemson has no tradition so you can expect us to win in basketball”, that is just nonsense and is loser talk. Clemson had zero tradition in softball and won the ACC, Clemson had zero tradition in soccer and has won three national championships. Really, prior to 1981 Clemson had no tradition in football other than infrequent success. We have to hire the right guy who can recruit the right players, and the guy we have now is not it

What is the old saying-
A fool and his money or soon parted or we have what is dumb- doing nothing about the same problem and expecting a different outcome.

The changes in Death Valley did not come until the football team started winning.

They don't really support the team today like they have in the past so it would probably make sense to scrap what we have there and start over. Add some verbiage to the application to ensure we're getting the right kind of student going forward.

What is a so-called fan. Is that a fan that doesn’t agree with you . If all the so-called fans didn’t attend a game next year, would you do your part and buy the unused tickets since your an anti so-called fan?

If you go to the doctor and he ask you to lose weight to better your health, do you inform him you’ve been fat for 45 years and it’s not likely someone like you could lose weight, so he must be a so-called doctor?

Re: In order to make the NIT next year, what facilities upgrades

Imagine if coaches like Coach K, Mark Few and John Thompson had subscribed to the notion that “it’s never been done here before, so let’s settle for mediocrity “. They all had a belief that something could be made from nothing. I truly believe in my heart Clemson basketball can be whatever we aspire it to be with leadership who dares to be different and great. I want a leader who points the finger at himself instead of blaming 18-22 year old for their failures, and credits them for their successes.
