You wonder if the identities of jurors in high-profile cases like these need to be shielded for exactly that reason going forwards.

If a fear of reprisal might reasonably effect a decision, you almost have to make sure a juror's identity isn't public.

higher punishment to any crime harming a juror if it is believed to be associated with their service as a juror, a la a “hate crime”.

I’m not a huge fan of “hate crime” legislation, but it would make more sense to me in this scenario because it’s not only an attack on the juror but on our whole judicial system.
