It's not instagram worthy.

I have a couple co-workers whose wives let instagram and pinterest run their lives. Both refused to buy any kind of starter home in the last 3-5 years and were waiting to jump right in to a forever home because they don't want the appearance of only being to afford a small house. Now they are priced out of the market and paying stupid amounts of rent for an apartment.
They missed out on a 3% mortgage and $100-200k in equity because they'd be embarrassed to put a smaller home on social media.

It's kind of weird to think a small apartment is somehow more acceptable than a small house.
I've seen, on multiple occasions, a 'keeping up with the Jones's mentality really hurt people financially.

But they both refuse to live in a 1,500 or so SF starter home. They'd rather rent.

Or something like that. Or maybe it was Jason Aldean.

Millennials arent "kids"

even the youngest Millennial is like 25 or older depending on your definition.
I live in Charlotte which ranked in the top 20 most "overpriced housing markets in the US" and in the top five "hottest housing markets" in the US.
However, there are numerous townhouses and condos in the $100k price point and quite a few single family homes under $150k in the greater area.
here's one in Rock Hill: https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/212-Marshall-St-Rock-Hill-SC-29730/11867983_zpid/
the trouble is, these millennials don't want a starter home, or a fixer upper.

Living in a small house is one thing, living in Rock Hill is quite another.

The house that the wife, who runs every Millennial home with an iron fist because she’s been taught that "happy wife, happy life BS," thinks she deserves to one up the other Millennial wives.

Our starter home was 1000 sqft $86K and we did a ton of improvements

Sold it for $130K. I don't get why these people can't humble themselves over this. We bought our second home for $109K and sold it after tons of improvements for $180K. I'm convinced this generation doesn't want to do a damm thing.
