If DJ commits, what does that mean for Phommachanh?

Hope we can keep him. Dual QBs? Position change for Phommachanh?
Good problem to have, I realize.

There is talk , and speculating , and evaluating and then there is an actual result . TP may end up starting over DJU , no way to know what will happen until other things are done happening .
I hope I have answered the question without adding any others.

I don't think he expected to start quickly anyways as he came in directly behind Trevor.

It means that they will have to practice hard and compete against each other for the starting job, and the other will be the Backup. Really good backup QB's make it to the NFL, and they can have an awesome career in the NFL. A lot of college staring QB's usually ends up being a backup to a really good NFL QB anyways, and some backup college QB's that were backups to an elite college QB have went to the NFL and became a starter. No shame in being a Backup QB to an elite QB, and a good NFL QB coach can see the talent they have just as a backup and want them on their team. Maybe not but, I think that Chase Brice will have an opportunity to play in the NFL....

Why are you assuming that Phommachanh will be the one left out?

He’s an outstanding player in his own right and would give D.J. plenty of competition for playing time.

He’s a real good player just like Chase Brice. But 5* QBs are just a different breed. The Deshauns, Trevors, and what I hope will be DJ play and play early. Good problem to have but doubt we keep all of them.

Sorry I meant 5 star QBs at Clemson. Yes there are always 5 star bust but Dabo seems to hit on pretty much everyone. What I meant is if/when DJ commits he will be next in line at 5 star QBU and will play.

TP will be a year ahead and know the O better most likely. From watching the spring game I do not expect DJ to just come in and move ahead of him on the depth chart. TL was a 5 star on a whole other level than any QB ever. DW wasn't even a 5 star in composite. DJ is ranked the 50th player in the nation. Not a knock on him but coming out of high school he isn't close to the level TL was. Hopefully they both end up great and push each other to be better.

TP was the #1-rated dual-threat QB in the country for his class per some of the services. In terms of physical talent Phommachanh is right there with a Deshaun Watson, actually. I think it was the weaker competition he was playing against that limited Phommachanh's rating to just a four-star (I say that ironically) but the guy I saw in the Spring Game looked like he had potential first-round tools.
DJ is a mutant, granted...but I'm not convinced it's a given that he's necessarily better. There's always a certain amount of plug-em-in-and-let's-see that goes on with any player, and that first look at Phommachanh was pretty durn impressive.

Taisun might be better than DJ. Why would he change positions? He may beat out DJ and be the starter. Nothing is guaranteed flr DJ. Its not like DJ is supposed to be another TL or even a Deshaun Watson. Taisun is a stud too.

Not a coot...just someone with common sense. If DJ commits we will have 4 QBs who could be starting anywhere. We just had this situation recently and we had 4 QBs transfer. Just history repeating itself.

It’s crazy how delusional people are on this site. These responses have me cracking up.
Of coarse someone is going to transfer. If DJ wins the job, TP11 will transfer. If TP11 wins the job, DJ will transfer. It’s not rocket science, these athletes are too good to sit on a bench. It’s not an indictment on their character. It’s what great players do, they want to play. Just like Zerrick Cooper, just like Hunter Johnson, just like Kelly Bryant, and probably just like Chase Brice will if he gets beat out in the spring of his senior year.

Never forget injuries happen in an instant and change fortunes overnight. Eason at Georgia is a prime example. The future is never certain so any quality college program isn’t going to solely rely on one or two qbs.

I am super excited about TP after a brief glimpse of his skill set during the spring game. If we land DJ, I sure hope TP sticks around, the young man looks to be a great QB!

At the end of the day, we have an embarrassment of riches. I always thought TL would be here for three years and chase would have his one year to make his name. I also am not yet used to us being in the position to get the number 1 QB when we want them. If Chase is the guy, that means he is playing at a high level and we are winning championships and if he isn’t, it means someone else is. What a great problem to have. Loyalty is tough though.
