Religious Fundementalism-> ???
Barely a decade after Roosevelt, Churchill, and Stalin met in Tehran for their summit, all three countries have been doing their best to tell Iran who they should be 'loyal' to and who should have control of their oil... Follow the money, well at least the part that the Shah didn't steal.

I don't disagree, but we cannot do that unilaterally. If other countries think that trying to regulate Iran's nuclear power program is the best way forward, then we need to get on board and set up meaningful inspections.

I am not suggesting that we just go along for no reason. OUR sanctions mean less than nothing if other countries aren't doing the same. If we refuse to buy Iranian oil, they will just sell it to someone else - what have we accomplished ?
This is the way of the world now. We might wish that we could stand astride the world and force our will upon others, but it dopes not work that way anymore. In fact, every void that we leave will be filled by our competitors our adversaries.
All of our existential problems are international in nature. They will require cooperation, compromise, and consensus to solve them. If America demands to be a world dominator rather than a world leader, I am not sure that we can solve these problems.

I only favor lifting sanctions if Iran agrees to direct any future violence towards the US at highly (preferably wholly) democratic cities or precincts.
It is only fair the people supporting these policies receive the benefits of those policies! Who can disagree with that.

weapons-grade Uranium - I say "go for it".
However - I believe if you look into why Trump got out of the deal - it was basically because the Iranians weren't very forthcoming when asked to hold up their part of the deal (don't make weapons-grade Uranium).

No, we got out of the deal because Trump's Saudi buddies wanted him to and they paid him handsomely to do so. It was straight personal grift on Trump's part, nothing more and anybody who looks for a reason beyond that is just rationalizing. Trump never has a reason beyond that. Ever.
Yeah, Iran's a bad actor, but they have oil, and allowing them to sell it on the world market drives the cost down...which in turn drives Saudi profits down also. (Do we care about that? Can't get there, myself.)
Of course, there's also the fact that the second you take your eyes off Iran they're going to start testing you again...and be right back pushing the Saudis for dominance in the region, but hey. Imperfect world.
I think you do a deal because what we were doing was completely stupid and wasn't working, and especially with Keystone XL dead in the water we need new oil from somewhere.

slick bud of mine says it was a great idea in 2004 when they proposed it, but not anymore. Instead of waiting on three administrations to make up their minds, industry leaned heavy on developing fracking tech and not only made up for the deficit, but massively improved the supply chain. Only beneficiary of KXL today would be Canada....eh.

No.It may be that Iran obtains nukes whether sanctions remain or not. However, in the meantime with the sanctions, Iran has less cash to devote to funding terrorism. The mullahs have been very clear about wanting to destroy Israel and hurt the US. It's a thorny issue, but I think the original Obama/Kerry deal was naive. Biden will lift the sanctions, someone else will have to deal with the consequences. Iran violated the conditions of the deal anyway. I am not sure why anyone thinks the Iranian government can be trusted? It's a shame, as the Iranian people are ready to be unshackled from the oppression they live under.

Was Iran not quiet before we got out of the deal? In fact, when was the last time Iranian backed Shia attacked American civilians? There's a pretty long list of attacks by Sunni terrorist groups (saudi) in the last 20 years. Are we on the wrong side in the Middle East?

closest 'confidants' to the US... They had expenses. I personally spoke with the Shah's "personal limo driver" while living in CT... I later was in the Shah's estate in Greenwich which was protected by 'former' Secret Service agents, two on at all times. One escorted his granddaughter to school everyday and sat outside the classrooms.
They wouldn't let us in the attic at first when we were trying to track down the problem with some 3-way/4-way switching. They finally did and that's when we saw the bank of servers that were part of the security system that they were monitoring from a room off of the kitchen. The US put him in power and took care of him and his family afterwards. What I stated before stands. I'VE SEEN IT.
