I know it is more than just this

but it feels like Dabo began to lose his way when he lost Jeff Scott and BV and the guys they took with them. He was used to being the CEO and delegating and now he had to take more hands on control himself. I think he is a great visionary and a great motivator but not a great Xs and Os guy. His lack of coordinator experience shows in that area.

I don't know for sure but I think Scott and BV were the two coaches he relied on the most and when they were running the day to day, things just ran smoother. It feels like the slide started with their exits.

That is a really tough one to fix in a hurry...

We all know what a difference BV made but I think

Losing Scott has gone under appreciated. The WR's have pretty much stink since he left and that was his position.

Then we need new leadership….. he needs to have a hands off control on offense for sure. Why have an OC? Or DC?

Chad Morris and Brent Venables were the two biggest keys to our tremendous success.

Morris brought intensify and a forward-thinking offensive approach. He is also the reason why we got Deshaun Watson.

Jeff Scott and Tony Elliott continued Morris’s plan, but as Elliott took on a more prominent role you saw us start to move away from what worked so well. It wasn’t evident while we still had elite talent, but when we didn’t (e.g., when Kelly Bryant was our QB) you saw weaknesses there.

Streeter continued moving us farther away from the up tempo, innovative offense we had previously. Not surprisingly, we saw our offensive efficiency continue to decline.

Defensively, Venables brought toughness and passion for the game - similar to Morris. He was a huge key to our success as well. We have seen that intensity decline under the Goodwin-Conn regime, and our performance has suffered for it.

Dabo’s questionable hires recently are concerning. It isn’t just restricted to coordinators either, but extends to many position coaches.

It feels like Dabo got complacent - subconsciously I’m sure - and we’ve seen our program decline as a result. The Riley hire was a step outside his recent comfort zone, and I think it was a good hire. But if Dabo is heavily involved in the offense as I suspect he is, Riley won’t truly get to do what he wants.

It will be interesting to see if Riley takes a head coaching job after this year. If he isn’t able to run his offense without “collaboration” from Dabo, then I am sure he will leave the first chance he gets.

Riley needs to be able to run the "Riley offense" and not the "Clemson offense."
