There is a lot of great discussion on the root cause of the offensive woes! Whether it’s the Oline, blocking technique, raw QB, bad footwork, needing a slot receiver, play calling, execution, etc. This all boils down to coaching, and “coordinating” the offense. Absolutely no excuse for being this poor offensively. We are all die hards on this site, but many of you are not willing to accept the fact that the preparation and coaching have been poor on the offensive side.

I agree with both viewpoints. It does seem to me that going up against our Defense in practice, there should have been some indication that the offense had issues.
However, I also trust the guys in charge. Our Tigers have accomplished way too much in the last 10 years for me to second guess what they are doing.
If Trevor was a first time starter at Clemson with this current group on offense, I am not sure he would have been immediately successful. I think he might have performed better than DJ at this point, but that is hard to say with the O-line problems, lack of blocking, no slot receiver, etc. Could Trevor have beaten uga in his first start with this group? Maybe but not a sure thing. Unlikely Trevor would have telegraphed the pick 6 that was the difference in the game. All that can be said was Trevor was farther along in development when he arrived at Clemson.
All 3 of the top receivers that DJ connected with against ND last year are gone which includes Travis E.
I believe DJ will settle down and grow into the position. If we can keep winning as the offense develops we are in business. No championships will be won in September or October but our Tigers must find a way to win to give us a shot in November. DJ in November will be much better than DJ last week. Same can be said for a lot of players on offense.

to seeing exactly what course we are on. With UGA, the excuse was, well its Georgia and that nasty defense and the first game replacing offensive starters, etc., then SC State is what it is and then last week it was, well, GT came out in a different set and just played great.
Will there be an excuse this week? Canna our staff and players adjust to the different looks? Will Elliott/Dabo be willing to try Taylor at the slot? Can the Oline man up and put a hat on hat up front?
For me, I'd be much more optimistic if we can put together 4-5 scoring drives of some kind (FG or TD) and finish the day with 430 yds, 24 offensive points. That's still underwhelming somewhat, but would be a vast improvement...If we go out there and put up 350 yards, 17 points and 2 turnovers...then I think we are really headed for a tough season offensively.

No I don’t have all the answers, but if I did I’d be making $2M a year as the OC at Clemson University! It doesn’t take a football expert to see the offense is broken.

Oh ok.
You just said that the problems all boil down to coaching so I thought you might be prepared to provide the fix since you had recognized the source.
My bad.
