I have always thought the SEC was the best fit for Clemson and have always said that is where they would wind up. For the record I still do because the move makes too much sense with existing rivalries etc. So why all the talk of the Big 10 and does it make sense. Initially I say no, but only because I prefer our southern tradition. However, assuming Clemson does wind up in the Big 10 it may be the best possible outcome because of the long term implications of a non ESPN TV deal. Meaning with ESPN hitting dire financial straits as cable money drys up and parent company Disney continues to flounder and lose money all over the place, the Big 10 may be the best long term stability option. Secondly, I really don't expect some earth shattering announcement from anyone this week. I do expect FSU and Clemson to announce they are leaving the ACC, but I would not expect a conference declaration from the Big 10 or anyone else. FSU and Clemson and maybe others do stand to gain from announcing their intention to leave because of the Aug 15 deadline to declare their intentions or stay another three years in the ACC. Again I think any rumor at this point is just a rumor. For the record the GOR belongs to ESPN not the ACC. A move to the SEC would negate a GOR penalty because ESPN would still have the rights for Clemson and FSU in the SEC and would require only the roughly 120 mil exit fee from the ACC.

I've always thought Clemson would be more appealing to the B1G than to the SEC, abs that we'd get invited to the SEC as a way for the SEC to protect its turf.

I'd prefer to see it's in the SEC, but the B1G would make a lot of financial sense and we'd have found a seat before the music stopped playing.

I am sure everyone can't be wrong when they say our media rights are tied to the ACC.

The ACC does not own the media rights that is why there is a contract. ESPN is paying for the rights therefore under the terms of the contract ESPN not the ACC is the owner. When the contract ends the rights return to the ACC to be bid on or renewed by ESPN. It just like a leasing a car. You drive it as long as you pay for the rights when the lease is up you negotiate an outright sale or turn the car in.

Secondly if the ACC owned the rights they would simply put them back up for the other networks to bid on and get a better deal.
