... even for those of you who have, let's say, a lower opinion of his on field coaching than I have, I offer the following video.
Forget, for 15 minutes, his X and O acumen, his clock management, his game time decisions. Just listen to this guy talk about two things.
1. Starting around the 5 minute mark, listen to him talk about officiating and replays.
2. Then a few minutes after that, listen to him talk about the playoffs and, specifically, Fran Brown. He even calls out Kornbloot by name.
Side note: He also gives a cryptic comment about the future of NCAA football, "In 3 to 5 years it's all gonna be different anyway." Dabo knows that in 3 to 5 years there will be some sort of realignment with far fewer than 130 schools involved and he knows Clemson is gonna be one of them. You and I are privy to all the backroom discussions and plans, but Dabo is at least aware of the general path, if not the specific steps.

complacent now. Acting like tackling isn't a big problem. Acting like it's ok that we were so inept because Sellers also breaks tackles elsewhere. Dabo is absolutely committed to the idea that everything is mostly fine. His rhetoric after UGA was proven to be BS after the Louisville loss. And now his positivity is hinging on a horrible ACC conference and our theoretical path to a national championship. We have not beaten a top 40 team. He sounds more out of touch than ever.

Success as our coach. I know you know much more than me about the post-99 Bobby Bowden FSU years so I’d be very interested to hear how you see our current trajectory and situation compared to those years. From my perspective, we have been on the same trajectory since 2020 as Bowden’s FSU teams from 2000 to when he finally capitulated to donors and handing the reigns to Jimbo.

Bobby's downfall started after Mark Richt got the UGA job. He took some assistants with him. Bobby replaced them with coaches who were not as good. Specifically, he promoted his son, Jeff, to OC. This was in direct violation with FSU anti-nepotism rules. Bobby went to the mat over it, threatending to resign. The university found a loophole.
To put it mildly, Jeff stunk as an OC. And, the QB coach he hired stunk also. So, for a few years FSU got progressively worse.
Fans were demanding Jeff Bowden be fired. But, Bobby was not going to fire his son. It finally reached a head when Noles lost to Wake 30-0 at home. The boosters went to Jeff and strong armed him with a hefty buyout and he accepted their offer and resigned. But, Bobby still tried to talk him out of it.
The next season is when Bobby hired Jimbo who came in as OC and "head coach in waiting."
The team got better, but still not good. Those years between Mark Richt leaving for UGA and Bobby finally retiring are referred to as "The Lost Decade" by Noles. The number of losses from the years 2001 thru 2010 (10 years) was 4-5-3-5-6-6-4-6-4.
The previous 14 years FSU won 10 or more games every year and never lost more than 2 games.

We lost Jeff Scott and Brent Venables and replaced them with much less capable coaches which is bringing the team down n terms of both on-field playcalling and general player development. Couple that with boosters having to strong-arm Dabo into changing his attitude toward the portal and paying high school recruits as well as Dabo being our greatest coach n history (which carries some invincibleness to his attitude) and it sounds shockingly similar to your Lost Decade. I feel we are in the beginning of our own lost decade.

I agree with you and I believe Dabo is wiser than most Clemson
whiners think he is. Dabo is the best coach in my life time of
80 years and I've been a Clemson fan since ten years old.

Well, he did win two national championships and played for two more. That’s only something a handful of coaches can say they’ve done. He has a right to be cocky and aloof. My concerns are all about the product on the field now, which he doesn’t seem to be addressing

I appreciate the pass along but I think a lot of us have become “Dabo weary” with the conversations. I think we’d all appreciate less talk and more execution. Let’s keep all the focus and energy on our team and less focus on everything else going on around us.
I like our chances if we get dialed in and play to our potential. Right now, that’s really all I want to hear about.

My position has been that Dabo is just trying to navigate the current environment with as little damage as possible because college football is about to realign and change. He doesn’t want to destroy what he has built just to be top dog for two or three years. If the change comes quickly, then we’ll look back in a decade and see what he did was right. But if the change takes much longer, then we’ll have a problem. He’s being patient, but it’s a gamble.
Personally, I would rather have him at the reins although I don’t like his conservative play calling late in games with the lead. However, I don’t not have any national championships or conference championships under my belt.
